I have a foot out the door on the whole college sports thing. It is not going to take much more for me to leave and slam the door behind me. Still don’t know if I will even bother with this season.

I try to stay out of the QB arguments so much so that there may be a few posters that are unsure where I really stand.
Team Buchner I bet.

Krazy has been here and there ever since we started to expand playoffs and pay players. That’s part of it that is doing away with alot of fans. I mean there are rumblings that the number of non renewals in tide pride this year is close to 5k. Idk if that’s accurate but it’s not unrealistic.

But these stupid arguments have driven off alot of great posters because they get caught in the crossfire over them. This all or none and us or them mentality for discussion isn’t healthy.
While I often disagree with Krazy I still enjoy his posts

Well I’m done traveling to away games after this year. Too much money, stress about opposing fans, and it’s just not fun anymore. I’ve kinda backed myself into a corner with the Wisconsin game because I’ve been planning it with military buddies for years. I think I kind of came to the conclusion after the Florida game in 21 after the miserable drive, heat, and fans that I was about done. But I kind of look at the upcoming road games and only maybe Ohio St and ND interest me. One friend wanted to know if I was going to FSU and UGA next year and i said I rather get the stomach bug for 7 days than do either. I mean going to college baseball games, Braves games, and Stallions games are becoming more fun than going to Alabama football games. The stress, the number of jerks, and the lines are very low while usually having better parking and amenities than your common college football environment.

But nil and transfer portal is slowly hurt my interest. The donkey fans controlling discussions is also driving me off the boards.

I don’t think i agree with much that krazy says but atleast i can respect his commitment to research and basis for his argument. I do miss him but by far the one that I miss the most is Selma… although I talk to him often, but his contributions will be missed.

.

The sunshine pumpers though....can we at least admit the strengths of a typical Deboer offense are the exact weaknesses in Milroes game?
I KNOW there are several JM fanboys who won't touch that challenge with a 10 foot pole.

It's like his obvious weakness, which have been on display for 2 years now, do not exist is their eyes.

How this started off was you had Team Milroe and Team Simpson back last spring. Then those of us who went to scrimmage and heard what Saban and the other coaches said told everyone that we may have a quarterback problem. To which many on this board dismissed after A day looked passable (no pun intended). Then Buchner comes in and everyone gets entrenched into their camps even worse.

However out of the three camps the Milroe camp has been by far the loudest and obnoxious camp in terms of trying to dunk on the others. It started with Stephen M Smith making up crap about Simpson being a Daddy’s boy and the Receivers won’t practice with TS or TB. Then after a game against a directional school we got a thread seriously comparing JM to Vince Young….

Then Texas and USF happened and we kinda had a quiet point of the season until LSU in which you started to see Milroe fanboys posting “you were wrong” threads weekly and saying stupid stuff like “he is better than Bryce and Tua” over and over and over until we get beat by Michigan.

My point is that Milroe gets a lot of unjust criticism but he gets a load of obnoxious supporters to justify everything too. Really this whole thing persists because the normal in the middle fan has concerns at quarterback and both of the fringe groups keep trying to control the conversation by labeling you either a hater or fanboy because you have a far more complex opinion than them.
I would disagree. I actually see a hypersensitivity from posters who cannot handle people being critical of their favorite player. Most things being said about Milroe literally can be pointed out on film. Certainly you have some overkill from a few. But the majority of criticism are things you can freeze the tape and point out. Bottom line, the guy has to improve in several areas and unfortunately those things are the last things people saw of him last season.
I believe these two posters have about as solid of a take on this matter as I've seen on this board. I'm not a JM hater or lover. Neither do I hope he fails.

Here's the thing I see: his weaknesses as a QB are so graphic I struggle to see how he can erase them and run an offense like CKD desires to run. If he somehow gets fixed by his QB guru then I'll become a believer. I just want to see him play like a true, drop back passer who can dissect a defense with his arm (and legs when appropriate). Until I see that I'm a doubter. But I'm not a hater. I just want to see Bama put our best QB on the field.

Nick Saban was proud of what the team accomplished considering it looked really bad to start the year.

We had problems for sure, but there is simply no context in which a 12-2 season, SEC title, a playoff berth, and stopping UGA from a 3 peat is a disappointment.

Disappointing end? Absolutely. Disappointing season? No way.
You are confusing "accomplishments" with "execution."

We slopped/muddled/lucked our way to a lot of those accomplishments. There were many games during the year we barely beat average teams and looked real sloppy doing so.

Kudos that they put it together to beat Georgia and make the CFP. But we were a seriously flawed team that got by with three things: 1..Great leadership from CNS. 2. A great OC who simplified the offense for JM to be able to run it. 3. We were the most talented team in college football, according to recruiting rankings and many of those "stars" played defense!

Those 3 things are the only things that stood between last year's 10-2 season and CNS finishing off at probably 8-4.

Just out of curiosity, what have our other QBs been doing since the offseason? Just sitting around drinking beer, vaping, and playing video games. I'm sure they are doing everything possible to be QB1 when the season starts as well. All we hear about the QB position is Milroe this and Milroe that. It would be good to hear about how the other QBs are doing every once in a while.

Well, Milroe gets his picture taken more than the other QBs. He gets himself out there to be seen.

I understand why Milroe is getting all the press. Simpson really didn't play any meaningful snaps so there's nothing really to go by. CKD is being very strategic in how he publicly speaks of the QB's but the majority of the QB questions are about Milroe, not the others. But if A-Day told me anything, it told me Ty Simpson (on that day) looked better than any of the other QB's and though he's not asked about a lot, the gap between Milroe and Simpson isn't that much at all, if any. Because on THAT day, Simpson looked the part.

In no way limited to this thread, what a number of people are getting tired of is:

1. Inane back and forth of the “I’m rubber, you’re glue” variety.

2. Intractable positions. As in, I’m right; you’re wrong. On top of that, you‘re too stupid to recognize my glorious infallibility. Therefore you’re are an inferior human being.

3. Black-and-white / 1s and 0s thinking. There is no gray to consider, let alone multiple shades of it.

Which boils down to….
4. The board as a whole is a microcosm of the world today.

Forget compromise — which many see as a sign of weakness. An increasing number of people find it impossible to agree to disagree, yet respect and enjoy the company of someone holding a different opinion on a specific topic.

And yes, it’s causing some posters to stop posting altogether. For others, they cut back volume and/or avoid parts of TF. Still others just don’t read or respond to specific posters or groups of posters.

It’s for real, guys.

It's the hypersensitivity to constructive criticism about JM that seems to be the biggest issue. Second to it is the "hope/belief" that because he is a hard worker all of his issues will suddenly disappear.

There are some who may be a little overly critical, but I don't think there's one person who wants him to fail so they can say, "Told you!" Most critics say, "He's got flaws that are hard to fix and I've got my doubts, but I hope he can.

This. Everyday. Casting aspersions would be pointless and naming names would get me banned, but some of the folks on here are so intractable in their positions - and manage to hijack any seemingly-related thread to talk about one particular issue - that I have dramatically reduced the amount of time I spend on TF. I appreciate 4QBC for finally giving voice to what I've been hesitant to say myself.

To be frank, I'm tired of seeing the same people beating the same drum over and over again. Constructive discussion is dead in many of the threads, and it's getting to the point that I will only click on and read the most recent post on a thread on the FB board if a mod is the one who posted it.
