My problem area is defense. the CPUs WRs are always wide open. My defenders take horrible angles and always seem 2 yards away from the WR. YAC kill me as well because they always seem to break at least one tackle and then it is off to the races. I try to mix up coverages and disguise them with the new shell system. Nothing seems to work and I can't get my defense to play aggressively. I'm pretty good at stopping the run but can't stop a thing in the air. I've tried All-American and Varsity, same result.

On the flip side, I love the challenge on offense. Passing is hard and mistakes bite you. The CPU covers my WR like a hawk, they are right there to make a play on the ball most of the time, something I wish I could get to happen when I'm on defense.

I love the offensives side of the ball, I'm really frustrated with the defensive side. As much as I love watching football on Saturdays, I do not have a high football IQ. The schemes, concepts and how to read an offense and how to adjust coverage or line play on the fly, all pretty foreign to me. I guess it is more important in these modern football games because I used to not have these issues a decade ago.

I think I need to mess with sliders some, instead of dropping down to Freshman difficulty.

So, I play a base 3-4 defense with Alabama. I play cover 1 on first down a lot and mix up some blitzes on first down because the computer will run the ball a decent amount on first down. When it's passing situations, I will play alot of cover 3 cloud, cover 2, and tampa 2. Tampa 2 will cover the middle of the field if you're getting killed with passes over the middle. Alot of times I will pick a defensive lineman and try to swim past the offensive linemen to get pressure on the QB. Sometimes I will be aggressive on 3rd and medium by trying to blitz more defenders.

Playing on Heisman difficulty with Jax State in my first dynasty attempt, I've pretty much given up on trying to play defense at this point. I can stop the run for the most part, but they still get 3-4 yards a carry on most plays, when my guys choose to make a tackle.

I echo Nagus's sentiments that CPU receivers always seem to be wide open, but at least the CPU seems to make bad throws every now and then that get picked (but that just means that, in effect, they're stopping themselves more often than I stop them). Conversely, my receivers have DBs tethered to them like those kid leashes we used to wear at Six Flags.

There's a bit too much separation between Freshman and Varsity difficulty.

I win every game on Freshman by 100 or more, and rush for < 100 and complete 30% of passes on Varsity.

I am by no means a good player, but I feel like there should be a difficulty for where I am. WRs should not be either wide open all the time as on Freshman, or have DBs magically catch up to a streaking WR with the ball in the air as in higher difficulties.

Also what in the wide wide world of sports is going on here?

NCAA25Poll.jpg

Also I have been called for offensive PI twice in this dynasty, and both times it was an O lineman

After Conference Championship Week in Year 1 of my Jax State dynasty, 13-0 Alabama is the #2 seed in the CFP behind a 10-2 Georgia team that didn't even make the SEC Championship game (Texas was the other team). Something is definitely up with the algorithm.

And for anyone interested, Jax State is a fun team to play with. They've got a transfer QB (Zion Turner) who's got the juice and some solid skill players, including a transfer RB from Georgia named Andrew Paul (who doesn't appear on JSU's real roster, though...).

I have to play on Heisman (I'm a glutton for punishment), so I lost in Week 2 to Louisville while I was still trying to remember how to play the game. Fortunately, I won out the rest of the way, made the playoff field as the highest ranking G5 team, and will play #6 seed Utah when I get home from work this afternoon. And no, I don't bother playing defense (I sim it) because it's absolutely impossible.

In the SECC on Freshman against Ole Miss, I just had back to back safeties on defense. One QB sack on 3rd down, and one on 2nd down after a 1st down sack where the RB tried to run outside with a tackler right there. I have no doubt on Varsity, Dart would have found an open guy 12 yards downfield in .5 seconds and if I didn't pick an absolutely brain dead play like blitz from that side, would have been tackled soon after. I usually only pick defensive plays and MAYBE control a DL if I like the look of the matchup. I have had games with 20 sacks on Freshman. and opponents sustaining multiple 11+ play drives on Varsity.

Edit: And now I have strip sacked Dart in his endzone for a defensive TD to go up 81-0 at the half

Edit: Domani Jackson with a Pick 6 to go up 102-0 with 3:10 left in the 3rd.

NCAA25WhoopedOleMiss.jpg

Kendrick Law caught 8 passes for 7 TDs and 306 yards, earning SEC and national offensive player of the week

Jihaad Campbell has 12 tackles and 3.5 sacks, earning SEC and national defensive player of the week

NCAA 25 seems unsure whether I have 164 or 158 points. It may not be counting my 3 safeties in the Score row.

End of season stats:
7,654 offensive yards, 4,861 passing, and 2,783 rushing. 109.8 PPG, 300 first downs
556 defensive yards, 1,326 passing, -770 rushing, 52 points, 176 sacks, 23 fumble rec, 35 INT

DeBoer was Coach of the Year. My DC won the Broyles award.

LOLB Keanu Koht won Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, best Linebacker, and the Heisman Trophy with 44 sacks and 6 forced fumbles and I don't think I ever controlled him.

Top 5 in Heisman voting were Keanu Koht, Jihaad Campbell, LT Overton, Jalen Milroe, and Hunter Osborne. Milroe is the only offensive player

LT Overton won Best Defensive End and the Lombardi award with 28 sacks, 40 tackles, and 63 TFL

Kendrick Law won Best Receiver with 57 catches, 1774 yards, and 35 TDs

Jalen Milroe won best QB with 4582 yards, 88 TDs, and 4 INT

Justice Haynes won best RB with 1103 yards and 37 TDs on 114 carries and it feels like Richard Young and Jam Miller did almost as much if not more.

CJ Dippre won best TE with 518 yards and 10 TDs on 19 receptions

Parker Brailsford won Best Interior Lineman and best Center with 27 pancakes in 13 games

Devonta Smith won best DB with 3 INT, 45 tackles, and 3 TDs

Cole Adams won best ST returner but the stats were bugged, showing 0 for WR stats

Gonna try a Dynasty in Varsity after these playoffs

PPS edit: Kalen DeBoer was offered to be head coach at Georgia Tech, Indiana, and Oklahoma. Wisconsin offered him the OC position :D

Oh I already whooped them in the regular season, but I will do it again :D

They went 7-5, 3-5 in conference.
LSU went 4-8 and 1-7 with an 86 overall rating and Georgia went 5-7 and 3-5 losing to Kentucky :ROFLMAO:  o_O

Liberty beat #1 and undefeated Oregon in their playoff game

I'll see if anything is still available to me with respect to the stats. There weren't any super memorable moments, even though it was complete domination.

Edit: Alabama 114, Auburn 0. 450 yards passing with 8 TDs, all Milroe, 151 rushing, Richard Young with 113 and 3 TDs, Justice Haynes with 44 yards and 1 TD.

Playing the national championship against Utah now, and just had a sack with LT Overton. Herbstreit made a call out to John Copeland in the 1992 national championship game.

Completed a long pass, and he called out to Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy, and Jaylen Waddle.

The school specific details in this game are wonderful.

Edit: just had a long TD run with Richard Young, and as he was running down the sideline, he switched the ball to his outside hand to be able to stiffarm at the 3 and get into end zone.

Ty Simpson with a 35yd TD to Ryan Williams to cap off the first drive of the 2nd half to go up 63-0.

I gave up a few first downs and Utah punted, backing me up to the 2. Ran for 5 yards, and then Simpson threw a 93 yard TD to Ryan Williams.

Recovered a Utah fumble on their own 17 on the next possession and I threw a pick into coverage right after, when trying to lead the receiver outside did not work.

Keon Keeley scored a safety to go up 100-0 and Jaren Hamilton returned the free kick to go up 107-0.

Chris Fowler: This is a beatdown for the ages. It's almost over, thankfully.

Final: Alabama 114, Utah 0

I played through the CFP playoffs last night and won the NC with Jax State, beating #6 Utah, #3 Clemson, #10 LSU, and #5 Georgia (they beat Bama by 1 in OT in the semis).

Running the ball on Heisman with JSU against some of those fronts was an exercise in patience, as was trying to the throw the ball more than 20 yards downfield. In the NC game against UGA, we went to OT, I won the toss and elected to play D first. UGA scored in one play and then, amazingly, went for two and didn't get it. I scored, kicked the XP, and won. I'll admit: it might be a video game, but it was a cool feeling nonetheless.

mix up your defenses with man and zone. I like to blitz alot but you cannot do it to often or they will pull that little ole screen to the back

I learned that if you are running to score and have a teammate beside you, you can pull off a celebration move where you high five the other guy running down the field. A la Tyreek Hill. I haven’t done it, I’ve played 2 total games. But I was looking up something else and ran across that nugget.

My sons have a PS5 and they play a lot of 2k basketball and Madden Football. They purchased NCAA 25 with their own money and have been playing it for several days. I have to say this thing is addictive. I have played Madden some in the past but just didn't care much for it. NCAA 25 is a whole other thing. It is so detailed. It also handles much better and is more playable than Madden. I am still learning and have a long ways to go, but as a college football fan, this gives me a college football fix before the season starts. The attention to detail with the traditions and the stadiums is unreal. I'm not really a FSU fan but was playing there last night and Chief Osceola riding out on the horse with the flaming spear to mid field was cool. And when the fans get pumped up, the entire stadium is shaking to the war chant. I love this game.

They nailed Bryant Denny stadium and the run out also.

They need to update their logic with how they produce the top 25 rankings. I have something similar in my dynasty with Oklahoma having 2 losses being ranked ahead of my undefeated Alabama team. Their two losses were against teams that have terrible records, so not sure how they rank them ahead.

I'm not sure they can fix the logic, not without a complete overhaul of the current team and roster ratings.

Here is the theory being discussed on Reddit.

If you look at all the team ratings, the worst teams in the game are still around 70, even FCS teams (which is why FCS upsets happen so much). The teams are all bunched at the top. Kennesaw St., a team that has never played a down in FBS yet is rated 71. The difference between them and top team like Alabama should much higher than the roughly 25 points it is now, Kennesaw should probably be in the 50s or high 40s and FCS teams in the 30s and 40s.

Why is it like this, well the Reddit speculation blames it on the ratings of the real life players in the game. It's like EA didn't want to offend anyone so everyone's ratings are higher than they probably should be.

In Madden, this is not as big a deal because the disparity between teams in the NFL is smaller. In college, that gap needs to be much higher and right now the game just doesn't reflect that at all.
