Saw where Maya Rudolph is reprising the parody role of Kamala Harris on SNL that won her an Emmy. Do progressive Dems have enough of a sense of humor to enjoy something like that or is Donald Trump the only fair game? Just wonderin`!
I myself haven`t really watched SNL since the days of Belushi, Ackroyd, Bill Murray, et al

i was excited about a return of maya rudolph in that role. i think maya is hilarious and thought it was great the first time around

I'm beginning to believe you may be right again. On the radio this AM, they said she had moved ahead in all the swing states. I think initially she'll retain most of Joe's cabinet. Her turnover rate indicates she's hard to work for and some irascibility surfaces publicly from time to time...

I think she’s going to win as well. No one liked either candidate previously so anyone new would get a bump. The media will present her as the second coming of Jesus. I think she wins similar to 2020 in overall closeness of the electoral college.

the question becomes how will she actually govern. She’s trying to present herself as a moderate tough on crime prosecutor. That’s not who she is. Her 2020 presidential campaign is who she actually is. She’s a pretty far left person. Will she revert to her true self or stay more towards the middle?

I actually believe it's the other way around. I think her 2020 platform was calculated to fill a niche she thought she could make progress in and she was wrong. She actually took a lot of heat from the left when she was CA AG...

Honestly I hope you are right. We need both parties to track back to the middle. I guess time will tell if she wins.

My dad had a woman try and talk him into voting for HRC back when. When he asked her why he should her response was, "because we need a woman..." Dad replied that if he had said that America needs a black man as POTUS because he is black then he would be called a racist. Yes, the attitude of electing a woman because she is a woman is just as wrong. I said what I said...

I voted for HRC in 2016. But I didn't like her, and gets to the part of why she lost. She just wasn't "liked" by enough swing voters, independent, and even some Democrats. She had the Clinton administration baggage that(I think) people were sick of. And she came off as entitled. She was the Bob Dole of 2016: It's my turn, dammit!!

That being said, I also foresaw the circus clownage that would become the Trump years if he managed to win. And the Trump years did not surprise me at all. i held my nose and voted for her, knowing full well the consequences of her losing.

Being a woman may have factored into HRC's loss (well in her loss in the EC), but I think she had plenty of other negatives.

I truly believe that Joe Biden would have mopped the floor with Trump in 2016.

I personally think she is going to get eatin alive in Foreign Affairs and Policy. At least ONE new major conflict will occur on her watch strictly due to her weakness. You think the Middle East is going to respect her????

Well, I think the best indicator might be what she did as a prosecutor in Cali along with what she supported as a senator. Should be easy enough to look up. I could be wrong, but I`m not so certain that she`s the centrist for which you hope.

That's an interesting point. She will have to show voters how her administration's foreign policy would differ from Biden's (if at all.) Her biggest hurdle could very well be the fact that she was the VP for Biden considering how he was poised to lose in a landslide. She definitely got a newbie bump, but the real tale of the tape will be what the numbers look like after she starts talking about issues like this (and, of course, the economy.)

But you are right about encroachment upon civil liberties and constitutional provisions. Voting rights are assailed, reproductive rights, and a mindset that wants to walk back marriage equality. But I guess those aren't the civil rights you were talking about.

Our voting system is a trash heap, I'm perfectly fine with defending reproductive rights and gay marriage (which I assume is what you are referring to) is fine with me as well. When it comes to what other people are doing, I'm generally indifferent as long as:

A: I'm not involved nor am I affected by any outcomes and

B: I'm not being asked to pay for it.

Outside of that, go nuts. Now with that out of the way, I am deeply concerned about how people keep trying to chip away at freedom of speech with overt censorship attempts in the name of combatting "disinformation" or whatever other horsecrap excuse they try to use. Same applied to the right to peaceably assemble during the Floyd protests. Both sides just can't help themselves. Second amendment attacks are a consistent presence in public discourse as well. It gets tiring that this can't get settled once and for all.
