Our voting system is a trash heap, I'm perfectly fine with defending reproductive rights and gay marriage (which I assume is what you are referring to) is fine with me as well. When it comes to what other people are doing, I'm generally indifferent as long as:

A: I'm not involved nor am I affected by any outcomes and

B: I'm not being asked to pay for it.

Outside of that, go nuts. Now with that out of the way, I am deeply concerned about how people keep trying to chip away at freedom of speech with overt censorship attempts in the name of combatting "disinformation" or whatever other horsecrap excuse they try to use. Same applied to the right to peaceably assemble during the Floyd protests. Both sides just can't help themselves. Second amendment attacks are a consistent presence in public discourse as well. It gets tiring that this can't get settled once and for all.

I think that the only way to combat disinformation is to have a strong fact-check process in place. Especially in an election year. Our enemies in China, Russia, elsewhere know that we have a free flow of ideas in our country, and in Western Europe. They use it to their advantage with all these bots and paid trolls. I laugh at many of them with their broken English and fake American social media accounts. But they are getting better at it.....though it's still pretty easy to spot them.

I personally think she is going to get eatin alive in Foreign Affairs and Policy. At least ONE new major conflict will occur on her watch strictly due to her weakness. You think the Middle East is going to respect her????

The old commies in this world....they won't blink at her administration...run right through it...
Without knowing definitely one way or the other I tend to think that Kamela is to the right of very liberal Biden. Biden made his mistake pulling out of Afghanistan in the manner that he did. Many with never forgive him for that. Against Putin however he showed some serious chops from a diplomatic standpoint.

There is enough blame on both sides from a foreign policy standpoint but just about anyone is preferable to me versus Trump who sees himself being pals with Putin and Xie for the three of them to run the world while he continues to be pen pals with Kim Jong Un .

Any semi intelligent person would be preferable to that.

Who determines what the "facts are"? I'll give an example of nonsense from Dems and Reps. Reps said Hunter laptop was real and dems said it was fake. It turned out to be true. Who fact-checks this? What is done with the "disinformation"? Trump said there was rampant voter fraud in 2020. There wasn't. Was there some fraud in very small amounts, sure. Was the outcome of the election changed, no. Who fact-checks this and has things removed? I don't trust the government to do it. Do you? How does this work?

Especially when they pretend to be 20 year old hotties in bikinis who send me DMs that say, "I'm am now so interested friend. You will be my friend?" Clearly they think my old ass would be interested in someone that age (and even if I were, I'm still going to insist on proper grammar and punctuation.)

If you don't have total faith in the intelligence community, you clearly don't love Jesus, porkchops and Ole Glory. Move to Canada, ya hippie.

I voted for HRC in 2016. But I didn't like her, and gets to the part of why she lost. She just wasn't "liked" by enough swing voters, independent, and even some Democrats. She had the Clinton administration baggage that(I think) people were sick of. And she came off as entitled. She was the Bob Dole of 2016: It's my turn, dammit!!

That being said, I also foresaw the circus clownage that would become the Trump years if he managed to win. And the Trump years did not surprise me at all. i held my nose and voted for her, knowing full well the consequences of her losing.

Being a woman may have factored into HRC's loss (well in her loss in the EC), but I think she had plenty of other negatives.

I truly believe that Joe Biden would have mopped the floor with Trump in 2016.
In this household we have always believed that Biden would have won easily and this nightmare that is Trump would have never happened. Hillary ran an absolutely horrible campaign, was it Wisconsin she never visited. Even with her entitled attitude she still won the popular vote and would have been an effective Centrist President. Oh well, history balances on a teeter totter.

and here is the problem

even this isn't true

most Dems and people who lean left like me said. "How do we know it is true?" You have a blind guy who thinks but isn't sure that Hunter Biden left a laptop to be repaired in his shop in Delaware that somehow got into Gulliani's hands and had no steps taken to properly document chain of custody. Does it seem now that it was real. Yeah it does. Did it at the time, no. Was it during a time where Russians and others were actively producing fake stuff to paint Biden in a bad light, yes it was. So what do we do here? Personally I was fine with how it was handled and frankly 4 years later there wasn't a single thing on Hunter's laptop that caused me even the slightest bit of concern. Honestly if I'm him and packing what he is I'd own that publicly

But equally problematic was that everyone rushed to call it fake before it was ever thoroughly checked. People were laughed out of the room for suggesting it might be real.

The idea that one side is more aligned with the truth regardless as to whether it plays for or against your favor is naive, at best. I'm not saying both sides are the same, but I am saying they both will run with whatever helps them politically, truth be damned.

Anyone unwilling or unable to see this is simply the team-first, win-at-all-costs binary thinker they accuse the other side of being 24/7.

Here are some quotes from Biden and Schiff that might change your mind. Biden knew at the debate it was real and lied with a straight face. Schiff was chairman of the House intelligence committee. Pretty important spot. Two people who should be able to tell us something, Schiff and Biden, both lied outright and the letter from the intelligence people is fishy itself. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/16/us/politics/republicans-hunter-biden-laptop.html

So what happens when the fact checkers are wrong? Do we go back and just say sorry? What happens when their judgments really affects something? Do we do an election over because the official fact checkers got it wrong? I don't claim to have all the answers, but fact checkers aren't always right and people in charge will lie to our face.

ok, I'll accept that

He seems to be the safe choice. Definitely need to shore up the Midwest. A Wetz-Vance debate would be freaking hysterical, though.
The only question I have heard about Shapiro is that he is a devout zionist and will naturally be questioned by American Arab citizens. I heard that question today from a black reporter who essentially said Harris is a great candidate but we still have to hold her accountable.

I think that ship has sailed, my friend.

She was put in as VP because of her gender and race. Biden said as much.

That doesn't make her "unqualified".

BTW.....I see this as a double-edged sword.

If someone told me I was appointed into a position because of my race and gender....I know I would always feel......maybe it wasn't 'earned'.
Being a woman neither qualifies nor disqualifies HRC or KH from any position and I never said that it did. My meaning was that claiming that my dad should vote for HRC because she is a woman is sexist just as this lady would have called my dad had he told her that he wouldn't vote for her because she was female. My dad didn't, and doesn't care about anyone's gender.

That being said, I also foresaw the circus clownage that would become the Trump years if he managed to win. And the Trump years did not surprise me at all. i held my nose and voted for her, knowing full well the consequences of her losing.

What exactly was the circus show? The wonderful economy we had? The booming real estate business? $2 per gallon gas? Energy independence? Or was it simply his mean tweets and the various insults he threw out at Pelosi and others?

He's got some writing from college that's a tad militant, but it's my understanding that he's more moderate now and favors a two-state solution. That's probably his biggest obstacle at this point.

I also read somewhere he's also for school vouchers.
I'm guessing she wont pick a sitting senator unless their seat is a safe D.

I read somewhere yesterday, in the NYT I think, that without PA, Harris’ path to victory would require her to win most of the other swing states. If that is accurate, it would be reason enough for her to pick Shapiro. Plus she’s known him since they were both DA’s.

I like that she has several very good choices, each with their particular strengths.
