This isn’t working, the schedules are not balanced, some weighted to the easy side. No way to truly balance the scheduling. Best way is back to divisions where team on this side plays each other, every team on that side plays each other. I know there will still be an imbalance with cross division games, but not like what we are seeing this year.

Im also very worried about the play off committee. These are wins over current ranked opponents

Texas has 0 wins against current ranked opponents

TAMU: wins over missouri and LSU

Georgia: wins over Texas and Clemson

TN: win over Alabama

Alabama: win over Georgia, LSU, and Missouri

Ole Miss: Win over South Carolina and Georgia

Missouri: 0 wins against current ranked opponents

LSU: wins over south carolina and ole miss

Throw out the losses, and Alabama has the most impressive resume in my opinion with Georgia or Ole Miss in second. However, Georgia does not pass the eye test as a championship team after their loss against Ole Miss

look at losses and Georgia and Texas have the "best losses." I'm not sure how you actually say that, but you get what I am trying to say.

Not to derail the thread, but I wonder what Athens will be like if UGA drops this game to UcheaT which would make two games in a row they've lost and three overall?

Bama has the most impressive wins in the country. We've beaten more top 25 teams than anybody.

The above Peter Burns scenario could be doomsday for someone’s playoff Hopes. If LSU and Aggie make the SECCG, and the committee already said the loser of a CG wouldn’t be penalized. Say LSU wins, gets the bye with 3 losses, and Aggie gets in for making the game, where would that leave Bama, UT, UGA, Texas, Ole Miss? They can’t all get in. I see a team getting left out that is capable of winning the National Title.
I don't think lsu will win out. Vandy will get them. The QB will run all over them

I think there will be some upset people, The fans are already pretty upset. Georgia can not go undefeated every year and many teams would love 9-3 seasons, but it just doesnt sit right. Me personally, I am most upset that Mike Bobo is back calling the plays. I think the man is incompetent. I don't think he can develop a QB or call plays. However, rumor is that he is back next year regardless.

But it was an elimination game because LSU is out unless crazy stuff happens, and they win the SECCG. The committee is not picking them as an at large, which is what everyone was referring to when saying it was an elimination game.
If Arkansas beats Missouri (not so crazy) LSU is in the SECCG. Could LSU beat Texas or Texas A&M? LSU would be the underdog but it is possible. I always thought an elimination game was a game where the loser is eliminated from all possibilities.

Yeah but if we can't win the SECCG it seems unlikely we'd be winning a National Championship
Alabama won a national championship without playing in the SEC championship in 2017.
Georgia won a national championship after LOSING the SEC championship in 2022.

And these were with 4 team playoffs.

This year, I don't think the loser of the SECC has a valid claim to the national championship.
The most I think a 2 or 3 loss team should be able to say is "We're at least as good as whatever team barely made it in above us, and they aren't a legitimate national championship contender either" but I'm not going to be arguing that point, since I think it's petty and didn't want playoffs anyway, much less expanded playoffs. If circumstances arise that make 2017 and 2022 scenarios happen, I'm fine with that too, but I'm never going to be beating the drum for a team with multiple losses.

last weekend, it was said that Alabama was the only team to not play a team with a current losing record.

“Not playing in” and “not winning” the SECCG aren’t the same thing. I’d rather just skip it and host a home playoff game against a team we would beat by at least 2TDs.
Fair enough. I can see the argument for wanting a home playoff game over playing in the SECCG. I just meant if we play in it and lose I wouldn't expect a National Championship even if we still made the playoffs.

not to pick nits, but, South Carolina is #21 , and Alabama has a win over them giving them 4 wins Over ranked opponents . Texas had their butt handed to them at home, that wasn’t a good loss.
