Is there a scenario where we still back into the playoffs?

While I would’ve been upset in 2011, I would have understood it. I wasn’t upset at all in 2022, because I understood it.

The only time I might have been frustrated would’ve been if we had been passed over in 2017, because I could never have understood putting us behind a team with more losses, including a 31-point drubbing by an also ran, particularly when Ohio State had made it in 2016 without winning their conference.

With our record, I will not be upset one way or the other. Yes, you can argue that we are better than teen selected, but the fact is that we botched two games to mediocre teams.

Obviously, I hope we are selected, and it would be fun if we could go into Pennsylvania and thump a northern team in December and end that wine once and for all, but this is not the year for us to be doing a letter writing campaign, if we are not selected, either.

(if you are under 30 years old, letters are what we used before email existed. Blue font obviously).

Indiana is not fighting for anything. They are in as surely as any other team in the bracket.

That is idiotic. She is a moron. Not because of her opinion, but because of her false logic tree.

She has Miami still in it along with SMU, and Clemson out. Clemson winning does nothing but shift the teams around. She has 2 ACC teams in it in all of her scenarios. That leaves all 3 loss SEC teams out of it.
I’m willing to tolerate a difference of opinion that is logical, but remember that Heather is the same one that a couple of years ago at midseason had Oregon in her top four despite the fact Georgia had smashed them by 46 points.

no shame in losing to Georgia, but by 46 points?

And by the way, I know a lot of folks will not remember this, but as we reached the end of the 2016, regular season, there were commentators arguing for 3-loss USC to be among the four teams selected. Apparently, one of the chief credentials to be selected - for some commentators - if you were in the Pacific 12 conference was a 46-point loss to an SEC team. Keep it under 47, and you’re good!

Alabama has won too much and there is a National Campaign or at least an ESPN analyst movement to create an environment to exclude the Tide. I’ll post a link from an article this morning where people like Andrea Adelson are pushing for USCe over the Tide. People are ignoring SOS and all due respect to IU and PSU. They stink and everyone knows it. Just like TCU so you will have a not great UGA team win the whole thing or Texas who has nothing like the schedule aAlabama, Florida , UGA and the Sooners had to play.

no, the South Carolina argument goes like this:
- Alabama barely beat South Carolina at home
- SC manhandled both teams that beat Alabama and in the exact same venues
- SC “really” only has two losses because the officials jobbed them against LSU

That argument isn’t exactly complete, but I will note it is the exact same argument that Alabama fans still use to justify the 1977 national championship over Notre Dame, completely ignoring all of the aspects you mention

As far as Penn State and Indiana, if I were an advocate, for their cause, I would cut right to the chase:

Penn State, Indiana, and Alabama all played a bunch of 5-5 teams.

Only Alabama lost to two of them.

People need to quit treating Vanderbilt and Oklahoma like they were 3 win programs. Both are bowl eligible.

Plus, we boat raced LSU (who they lost to) big time in their house. And we crushed Missouri who they barely beat.

and if you compare their wins to our wins, we win that argument.

Those that are saying we don’t deserve it, are thinking like we are still in a 4-team playoff system. We aren’t.

I agree. We don’t deserve it. But does Miami deserve it? Clemson? Ole Miss?

eventually you realize that we deserve it as much as the next.
I personally don’t care about what other teams have or haven’t done.

Bama had everything on the line and controlled their destiny and then went to Norman and threw up on the floor the walls and the ceiling.

They are not championship material and they do not deserve a chip at the table.

I want to see them freezing their butts on in a mid December bowl in Shreveport.

But that’s me.

It doesn't matter how many points we beat them by. Margin of victory is not an acceptable reason to invalidate a H2H result. The only time you ignore H2H is when there is a multi-team tie that can't be decided on H2H. If we aren't going to honor H2H, then why play the games? It would set a very dangerous precedent.

Perhaps all of LANK will choose to opt out and the staff will have an opportunity to look at a practice with next years team.

That’s exactly what will/would happen.

That’s why I want a meaningless bowl game.

This season was dead after OU.

The selfish players will immediately opt out with some ‘heartfelt’ thank you on social media blah blah I’m off to the NFL.

Then the real work will begin for 2025.

I’d like to see those guys play.

I didn’t watch one snap of the AU game yesterday.

I refuse to watch #4 another second.

AP has us multiple spots ahead of SoCar and Miami today. SMU win should do the trick

Good post. The SEC, as the most competitive and stronger conference by far, should have 4 teams in the playoff. Bama is the best of the SEC teams on your list. That said, we will not be in that dance, unfortunately.

As a reminder, we are arguing over which team with three losses ought to be in a playoff. That fact alone kinda mitigates any appeals to "but we got hosed because we beat so and so."
With respect, Selma, who needs reminding? It‘s a 12 team playoff now - for better or worse, this is CFB. There are 3 loss teams that have to be considered - especially those with SOS that are far and away superior. I suppose it's the new-ness, but don't know why this is causing some people brain aneurysms.

Yeah, ok. Go hibernate till spring then? IMO this is over-the-top weird, bitter, and just not in the spirit of Bama fandom.

I want to see Alabama in meaningful games. They could very well do damage in a 12 team playoff. Would love to see them at ND or at PSU 1st rd.

But that's me.
