It is practically the only way to build depth and to keep guys in the program these days.Looks like taking three stars and coaching them up isn't a completely obsolete practice...

Does coaching and development matter? 100%It is practically the only way to build depth and to keep guys in the program these days.
Yea that was Jimmy Steins, said he was going to release a piece on the top 5 Bama signees on bol today and Brooks may be he's favoriteListening to a Bama insider on the zone this morning, I forget his name, going through his recruiting recap and about to release a piece on BOL about his top players in this class, he was absolutely gushing over Lotzeir Brooks saying he may actually be his crown jewel. He of course had great things to say about Russell saying he should arrive as polished as Tua and Bryce. Really exciting class! RTR!!
If he's that polished Ty or whoever is the starter next season may only hold it for one season before Russell takes over. We should be fine at QB moving forward.Listening to a Bama insider on the zone this morning, I forget his name, going through his recruiting recap and about to release a piece on BOL about his top players in this class, he was absolutely gushing over Lotzeir Brooks saying he may actually be his crown jewel. So many factors to players having 3 -stars..Looks like taking three stars and coaching them up isn't a completely obsolete practice...

I know I’ve seen several posters on here talk about how underrated he is and Jimmy supported that idea based on his film study.Yea that was Jimmy Steins, said he was going to release a piece on the top 5 Bama signees on bol today and Brooks may be he's favorite
If he’s truly a generational talent they may not hold him off for a full season unless they’re delivering big time themselves. If he's that polished Ty or whoever is the starter next season may only hold it for one season before Russell takes over. We should be fine at QB moving forward.
Brooks was recorded this year at 22.1 mph which is the fastest recorded. He is a smaller slot type player who can stretch the field and be lethal in the screen game and quick game. I see us down the road having our bigger guys like Meadows out wide and moving Williams and Brooks inside. Size on the perimeter and blazing speed in the slot is a deadly combination.Listening to Jimmy Steins going through his recruiting recap and about to release a piece on BOL about his top players in this class, he was absolutely gushing over Lotzeir Brooks saying he may actually be his crown jewel. This is fairly typical. I think Bama one year had all 5* and 4* except for one 3* and that was a FG kicker but we have always had several 3* in every class.Looks like taking three stars and coaching them up isn't a completely obsolete practice...

Going to have competition from Mack also. I think Ty will be the undoubted starter, Lonegan will transfer and Mack and Russell will get more seasoning and fight for the #2 spot next year.If he’s truly a generational talent they may not hold him off for a full season unless they’re delivering big time themselves.
I was subtly getting a little jab in at the folks who said DeBoer was going to sign "a lot" of 3* players as if Saban and other colleges never had any. This is fairly typical. I think Bama one year had all 5* and 4* except for one 3* and that was a FG kicker but we have always had several 3* in every class.
This would be the ideal scenario for sure! That means Simpson is doing his job.Going to have competition from Mack also. I think Ty will be the undoubted starter, Lonegan will transfer and Mack and Russell will get more seasoning and fight for the #2 spot next year.
I believe Josh Jacobs as wellJavier was a 3 star...
He was awesome.
I'll have to check on this but I think javy was unrated when we offered him.Javier was a 3 star...

I believe Javier was a late find by Shula in the 2006 class.I'll have to check on this but I think javy was unrated when we offered him.
He was so off radar compared to where he ended up that it was ridiculous.
And from what I remember, brought it mostly as a return specialist, and then the Saban staff turned him into the DB he becameI'll have to check on this but I think javy was unrated when we offered him.

Add Odom at 6' 5" in four wide looks and that is a scary WR line-up.Brooks was recorded this year at 22.1 mph which is the fastest recorded.
