This feels like losing because of corrupt officials. Some will say that you shouldn't leave the game close enough that officials can impact the outcome. But, even though you know that to be true, it still sucks that some entity outside of the game itself decided the outcome.

This is getting ridiculous. I don't understand why Fans come up with stupid takes like this and even through Milroe is top 5 Qbs for NFL Draft. He will be drafted. Whether he plays for Alabama in the bowl or not, We still support the team as a whole. Let's stop blaming a single player.. This is getting old.
Nope. I blame Milroe. If that makes me stupid, 🤪

I'm afraid this is only true when the officiating is mildly off and who wouldn't expect officials to be human?

But in recent years, they have seemed to be completely incompetent especially in our conference.

Meh, had the chance to win their way in a laid a colossal egg.

So now let's hope the staff decides to start building for 2025 and we see some fresh faces in the bowl game.
CA I remember you stating the committee had this thing “baked in” after last Tuesday. I believe they did as well, but in a somewhat different way. I believe they put Alabama at #11 with this process in mind: If SMU wins, we’re good. Alabama stays at 11 and in. If Clemson wins, regardless of nail biter or blowout, Alabama gets bumped and Clemson is in and SMU stays in too (ergo “we don’t want to “unduly” punish a team for losing CCG” caveat). And while I have no way to prove it, I’m of the opinion now that even if Clemson had won in a blowout, the committee would have kept SMU in. Our only shot was an SMU victory.

The last thing this committee wanted was another “controversy” (not for me but for the talking heads) like Alabama/FSU last year. What they decided to do was politically expedient. It is doing “the easy wrong thing instead of the hard right thing”.

South Alabama
This isn't just Alabama though, this is about the SEC in general and to a lesser extent the Big 10 (they lack parity this year but that won't always be the case).

The truth of the matter is that Alabama, South Carolina and Ole Miss belong in the top 12. The only reason they're not is because the system is literally dumb. It's not capable of parsing the data to understand why that's the case so they just look at wins and losses, but who you win against and who you lose to matter.

The SEC is so good it makes a lot of their teams look bad.
But here is the thing… I brought up PSU repeatedly. No one could explain why they were a top 10 team. Nor did they really care that they were. Same with Texas. But when you bring up SMU or Indiana the issue becomes more heated.

I think 5 AQs are too much and are probably the biggest issue. Move it to 3 or 4 and you probably going to make most people happy.

Why do people keep bringing up OOC games? That has nothing to do with Bama’s situation.
It’s not that, if we don’t have an offensive disasterclass in Norman, we’re not having this discussion.

Point is, we were told for years that SOS matters and Alabama was ridiculed for years by the media for not playing OOC P4 teams (particularly on the road) but all of sudden it doesn’t matter now.

Like I said last night I’ve made peace with it.

In a way this is satisfying, because Sankey/the SEC brought this on themselves. In case anyone isn’t aware, I’m not a Sankey fan.

As for the team, let any defections happen and happene quickly, and let’s get on with 2025.
I am waiting on the thread about defections to be started.

I had no illusion we would be in the CFP this year. It is easy to blame the CFP Committee for Alabama not getting in, but the truth is we were not a good team this year. We had some good games, but lost to two unranked overmatched teams. That is on the coaches and players not the CFP Committee.

I'm a Broncos fan. I can tell you I would be very disappointed if we needed a QB and drafted Milroe. I would expect any NFL fan to feel the same way if they're serious about their team.

But the posts that I’m referencing keep bringing up OOC games specifically, but that’s irrelevant to our issue.
