Bama Game Thread: CFP Selection Show details (12p-4p EST ESPN): Times, where to watch; Selection show 'game thread'

It’s not that, if we don’t have an offensive disasterclass in Norman, we’re not having this discussion.

Point is, we were told for years that SOS matters and Alabama was ridiculed for years by the media for not playing OOC P4 teams (particularly on the road) but all of sudden it doesn’t matter now.
But the posts that I’m referencing keep bringing up OOC games specifically, but that’s irrelevant to our issue.

This isn't just Alabama though, this is about the SEC in general and to a lesser extent the Big 10 (they lack parity this year but that won't always be the case).

The truth of the matter is that Alabama, South Carolina and Ole Miss belong in the top 12. The only reason they're not is because the system is literally dumb. It's not capable of parsing the data to understand why that's the case so they just look at wins and losses, but who you win against and who you lose to matter.

The SEC is so good it makes a lot of their teams look bad.
The ACC is 4-8 vs the SEC, yet they get 3 teams in the playoffs(ND,Clemson, SMU) and the SEC gets 3 teams.

I expect, if Bama isn’t in the playoff field, then we will see 20+ players in the portal by Friday. Then “trickle out” of those declaring for the NFL draft and sitting.
The only benefit for Alabama in playing in the Citrus Bowl would be the extra practices and playing guys you need to get experience for next year.
I don't like not playing for it all, but this benefit might be great and healthy overall for our program

Meh, had the chance to win their way in a laid a colossal egg.

So now let's hope the staff decides to start building for 2025 and we see some fresh faces in the bowl game.

I hate Dana White but his comment on championship bouts probably encapsulates the reality of championships decided by people.

There was a match between Shogun Rua and Lyoto machida in which everyone believed Shogun won 4 rounds and effectively the belt. However a panel of 3 judges said that Lyoto won. White made the comment that “Rua was robbed but its what happens when you leave your title up to someone else’s opinion”

We had a chance to win 2 games vs 5 win teams and we are in no matter what happens in Atlanta but we got drug by Oklahoma and left it in the hands of a committee

What you expect, and what NFL executives/coaches expects are two different things.

The fans (especially those of us who are knowledgeable about the game) are the customers and we're often right more often than analysts and even NFL executives/coaching.

No way that I'll look at someone who is not good at his job and call him spectacular.

And if that makes me and my "takes" stupid (according to you), then so be it.

Anyone think if we end up with Texas , Tenn and Georgia in the quarters they will realize maybe they got it wrong?

I'm disappointed... but we DID lose 3 games - two being horrendously bad losses. In any other year the playoffs wouldn't even be a glint in our eye. Bottom line: We had control of our destiny and laid an egg in Norman. So be it.
I'm hopeful we use the bowl game to get game practice for whoever is going to be with the team for the 2025 season. IMO the practice and game experience for the 2025 returnees matters more than winning the game.
I also hope Coach takes a good look at the OC play-calling. In Norman, it seemed the preferred play was to run Milroe left, right, and up the middle for 1/2 yard per rush. I suspect (hope?) that wasn't Milroe improvising, but was Milroe trying to run the play that was called.

Onward and upward! Roll Tide!!

This is getting ridiculous. I don't understand why Fans come up with stupid takes like this and even through Milroe is top 5 Qbs for NFL Draft. He will be drafted. Whether he plays for Alabama in the bowl or not, We still support the team as a whole. Let's stop blaming a single player.. This is getting old.

He’s the worst QB to put that jersey on since before JPW.

About 2.5 of those 3 losses are absolutely his fault.

He has continuously turned the ball over with fumbles and INTs and he shows no real leadership.

He’s prone to emotional outbursts and if not that he sits on the sideline completely disengaged from what’s happening.

He negotiated his QB1 status through the Lank/NIL crap instead of earning it.

And

If that’s not bad enough he’s a Selfish ME guy and all anybody needs to know about him is that non effort tackle attempt on that Pick 6 vs OU

The second he puts out his opt out msg to protect himself for the draft will be the highlight of the last 2 seasons for me.
