If people know a ref/ump/official's name, that's not good. Angel Hernandez is a perfect example.

There’s a few articles out there on him and his crew’s past exploits, which further shows there’s a problem with them being fit for the job. I’m extremely surprised the conference hasn’t done something about this with the amount of problems one crew can cause.

I've got no problem with AQs. The problem is the guaranteed top seeding.

The problem is one week taking a weaker schedule into account and the next week changing the criteria. Protecting the importance of conference championship games is each conference and the tv networks’ problem, not the playoff committee. Sometime between last weekend and last night someone decided that a conference championship game winner would carry more weight with the committee and a loss didn’t count against the loser.

I would be ok with keeping the playoff at 4, at least we would know that we were done after the Tennessee game.

Secondly, if all these teams play these weak schedules then I don’t wanna hear another fanbase talk junk about us playing Mercer in mid-November. It’s laughable the same criteria you used to rank us ahead of Miami was used against us. It’s like these people look for every avenue to stick it to us for being so dominant all these years. This is 2022 all over again.

Granted we probably don’t deserve to be in the feild but you made room for several teams that are no more impressive than us if you look at the total body of work. I say we cancel our home and home with FSU, and go find Western Carolina. Then the talking heads will cry, “They’ve played nobody!”

Replace that committee with the BCS rankings!!!

Shouldn't there be some type of obligation to them?

Already too many fluff games on the schedule, in my opinion.

I'm for going the opposite direction and adding one more conference game.

The ticket buying fans left the equation long ago. A bone was thrown by scheduling one better OOC game yearly. The money comes from the TV contracts. What’s the point of scheduling tougher games and risking the loss unless absolutely every other team has to do it and when you win that game you are properly rewarded (Strength of Schedule).

I’d be fine dropping AU permanently.

Tenn and LSU are our main rivals and 3rd is probably UGA because of Kirby.

AU is just a nuisance.

At least move it to earlier in the season so they can’t prepare 2-3 weeks for the game.

The rest of that schedule is tight… barely an inconvenience.

I think it’s set. We will reverse and play road games vs the teams we hosted this season, and vice versa. The reset will come in 2026. Not sure what the plan is.

I’ve been of the opinion of playing 9 or even 10 conference games. But the schedules must be balanced. And that was with the caveat that SOS would mean something to the playoff committee.

I don't think the dates are set just yet so theoretically they could still change

No, the AQs are what cost the SEC.

Yeah there is no need to panic wrt to scheduling.

The format HAS to be tweaked to eliminate Bid/Seed and Bye stealing.

If Bama is 10-2 or even 10-3 with an SECCG loss they are in but the Auto Seeds messed a lot of teams seedings up besides what happened to us.

I think the way forward is on two fronts

1) get rid of all B1G, D2, Notre Dame, and lower G5 opponents. Schedule ACC, MWC, and Big XII opponents where there is a common opponent on the conferences trying to get two teams in

2) Either push the SEC to go to a pod system or go to a 6 or 7 team schedule. I don’t think we are ever getting rid of the SECCG because of the money so that’s a non starter.

Until there are less AQs you have to play like the little conferences and base your season around number of wins over quality of wins.

CBB has a formula for ranking wins...Quad 1/2 etc....CFP needs to do the same...all wins are not equal..nor are losses...but having seen who is on the committee i have little faith they can even conceive of such a concept! a win is a win baby!

We say that but we could realistically have a SMU, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Clemson semi final with how some of these teams prepare and then you are going to hear the same thing you heard in 14 and 22 in that the committee got it right.

Contracts are written to be broken. Someone will just need to sit down and do the math on buyouts + billable hours on lawyers vs media rights from ABC/ESPN. I mean you don't have to look any further than how SMU slid into the ACC by foregoing TV money.

And considering the media rights for both conferences (SEC and ACC) are held by ESPN, it would just come down to cash.
