Well we might as well limit difficult games if they don't mean anything in the grand scheme of things. Why even play football for that matter? Let's hand out some playoff trophies to 12 of the highest bidders.

Do away with automatic qualifiers & committee. Go back to BCS formula.
We should just let an algorithm take care of it honestly, then there's not much people can argue with. Schedule difficult teams and the system will reward you.

If not the BCS formula why not mirror what NCAAB does with their seeding into the tournament? SOS, NET rankings, all of it. Wins help and so do losses to elite opponents. It shouldn't just be about wins and losses and whether you made it to a conference game.

Honestly, Clemson should be furious. They played a tough OOC schedule by playing Georgia and South Carolina. And they got punished for it. If they had played lesser teams they would have a bye right now.

Would also like to see auto qualifiers go away. Not enough spots in this playoff format for it to work correctly. We'd need more teams.

Please learn something from NCAAB on the matter.
I haven't followed college basketball enough to know much.....but I know RPI is used. That needs to be added since we're going to continue to expand these playoffs.

Don't think it will be....because of this forced inclusion of lesser conferences.....but RPI would be a great addition.

And if I'm the Clemson AD....I ask the question....Why was SMU given the 11th seed and Clemson given the 12th seed....when we just beat them?

Yes, the final rankings have SMU 10th and Clemson 16th, but shouldn't Clemson have earned a spot above SMU?

This is where Sankey needs to say to ESPN/ABC etc “we are going to a 6 team conference schedule. I will direct my institutions to schedule only non power 4 opponents for out of conference. Your CFP committee just told our conference that SOS means little to nothing. This will be the product you get to sell to people”.

The playoff is no longer about selecting the best teams, but which teams check off the most boxes, or which teams "deserve" to be in. Wins, regardless of strength of schedule, have proven to be the main criterion for participation in the made for TV post season. Do this, do that, and you are in. Just make it to your conference championship game, or have a gimme like the gold helmet bunch and you are in. Due to the potential loss of money for not being selected to the playoff, most schools will now opt to play cupcakes instead of a competitive school in a rival conference.

This has nothing to do with Alabama not being selected. We didn't earn it. We lost to Vanderbilt!

That would make too much sense.

There's just too much subjectivity in the pot the way they've created this committee.

Of course there is and always has been....conflicts of interest....by having AD's included. But honestly, you'd never be able to get away from those conflicts or biases under the current structure.

Also, treating all conferences as equal is ludicrous.

RPI would be great. Another metric that can be evaluated outside of JUST the committee's opinion. It seems like that is all that is really considered. It's weird to me that the selection committee for one NCAA sport can get it right, albeit with 64 teams, but the other more popular sport cannot. I don't get that.

"Let's make the decision that makes everyone the least angry" seems to be their guideline.

Boise State and Arizona State with a first round bye. 😂 Arizona State with losses to Cincinnati and Texas Tech.
We will see a lot of promote, promote, promote by ESPN to convince enough people to watch the games involving these teams in order to cover their cost of broadcasting!

Won't work with me.

I have zero interest in Notre Dame/Indiana or SMU/Penn State. I have mild interest in Ohio State/Tennessee and Texas/Clemson, but probably won't watch anyway.

Arizona State and Boise State having byes is a complete joke.

I'd like to see how many people actually tune in to watch SMU at Penn State.....and Indiana at Notre Dame. Fans of those schools and maybe the state of Indiana? And the Indiana/Notre Dame game is the only one on Friday night on the 20th. The other 3 are all the next day. Not to mention....SMU/Penn State and Clemson/Texas are both on TNT/Max.....hahahahaha.

Tennessee at Ohio State is the best first round game.

Quarterfinals....Peach Bowl is screwed. Fiesta Bowl better hope Penn State doesn't get upset by SMU. People will probably watch the Rose and Sugar.

Maybe we will get a “Gus Bus Bowl” between Rhett “Butler” Lashlee and Kenny “Dilly Dilly” Dillingham, former Barn OC/QB coaches in the semifinals.
That would be “must watch” viewing…..

It is hard to take that seriously. I really don't care who wins this thing, but I will be very surprised if their ratings are good. I know some people will watch no matter what, which is how I used to be, but I wouldn't think most people would give a rip about some of these match-ups.
Edit- I am guessing that these folks are hoping that the favorites win and provide some good elite eight and final four match-ups so folks will tune in and forget about how it all started.
