Bama Players Transferring (catch all thread)

  • Hi Guest, we are working on updating the site servers and software. We're also 'forcing' everyone to read and agree to our site privacy policy and terms of service. There are no significant changes to either of these but the terms page does clarify a few things that are mostly in the legalese. You can just click the checkbox for both and continue using the site as usual! We'll update you more on the site upgrades VERY soon! THANK YOU AS ALWAYS for supporting the site and being an active participant!

While Michigan has 11 billionaires, the biggest threat is from Larry Ellison , with no ties to the school other than his latest wife. One of Bama’s most notorious boosters had zero ties to the University. It’s not just about Alum, but also the fringe fans . In the past , that was good and bad, but in today’s climate it’s all good. I guess
Michigan football is just Larry's latest wife''s play thing right now...and Portnoy outed that! lol

Some of y'all are getting way to hung up on billionaires and such...

The sheer volume of cash a fan base has doesn't directly relate to NIL - total annual NIL could easily be paid by a single multi-millionaire donor if they wished.

If it was only about total cash available the Ivy League schools would dominate CFB.

Bama may or may not be able to go toe-to-toe with sexat or ATM annually - time will tell - but the single highest NIL payroll in CFB in 2024 was about $20 million, so let's keep it in perspective.

Well, I am starting the Tidefans NIL collective. I mean, we fans drive this bus and we need to get paid man. Ain't no telling how much intel we are pumping out on this site.

IF the Ivy Leagues actually cared…but they don’t.

The point is that we're talking about the same relative amount as a few $20 bills to a millionaire. Having billions of dollars available doesn't matter when NIL team amounts are literally 0.1% of that.
I don’t think the issue is limited to only billionaires.

I’m sure that Bama has some crazy rich alums, but if it became a straight up bidding war with no rules, we’d be left in the dust if others were willing to engage in such a bidding war.

Will that happen? IDK.

If things like the $10mm QB to Michigan is for real, it won’t be long before the biggest/richest dogs on the block have rosters that cost $100mm.

Millionaires/Billionaires...it doesn't matter who they are. The question is if they are willing to spend any of it for their school of choice.

Yella is apparently willing to fund a major portion of the boogs NIL fund and apparently he has recently upped the fund for buying a superior roster down there.

Do we have anyone with that kind of interest in our program?

So the three visiting, if those players are the real deal, why are they leaving their schools? Simply for an NIL payday?
well, one is at Arkansas, and they stink so could just want to play with better players around him.

One at FL is from Bham area so maybe he wants to be closer to home, and also not in a bottom half of SEC program. He had a good freshman year, but not as good this season so maybe s scheme or usage difference or whatever. He was also a tweaner for what Saban recruited. Not big enough for DL, but not quite agile enough to be a Jack/Sam. He's pretty much the prototype for the Bandit role though.

WR from NC state is probably seeking more exposure. Play somewhere he'll get seen.

Aside from that, pretty sure they do all want to see what NIL they can land...
