Seriously,
No difference in made pct between 21ft and 12ft shots. That's not part of the philosophy. The reasoning goes if you can shoot 40% from 3 you have to shoot 60% from inside the arc.
But, what if you only shoot 28%? Now, 42% is the mark. Much more likely 15 ft and in.

No difference from ranges? I can literally prove that wrong in my driveway.

More simple math: 2 > 0

The best evidence is we are knocked out every year by a team that beats us with 2s not 3s

I just think a nice balance is best.
The entire NBA disagrees with you

The more I think about it, the worst thing we did was open the whole can of whoop-ass on BYU. All it did was get Duke fired way up because they saw how good we could be. They came out with their hair on fire, and we came out a little flat. We lost the game in the first 5-6 minutes.
Duke is the best team in this tournament. Followed by UF. One of the two will win the championship.

I feared that too. It's hard to follow up a historic game with another one similar to it. We could have beaten Duke without another record setting day, but we sure couldn't with the lack of scoring we displayed. Plus, our defense wasn't good either. Double whammy!

And at the end of the day BYU was a great matchup for us and Duke was just the opposite.

Game was definitely over in the first 5 minutes. We had to stay with them from the opening tip to have a chance.

I’ll still take what happened.

We might not have beat BYU without such a record breaking performance.

I can be upset with our historical Sweet 16 exits because if we’re being brutally honest we choked at that stage for a long time as a program.

Here we were a 2 seed and got where we were supposed to get… the Elite 8.

Duke is a Top 2 team and they were just better than us last night.

We need to tweak some things with how we build our roster to break through.

I have confidence we’ll get to the FF again soon and beyond.

No shame in how things ended.

The best thing we can hope for is a sluggish rock fight in the final four. Which might trigger a tighter whistle going into next year

The officiating much of this year really did stifle the beauty of the game

Players shouldn’t be on the floor 75 times per game

Anytime anyone suggests CNO's offensive philosophy needs a major overhaul two words remind me how lucky we are today: Anthony Grant
Right.... There are only 2 ways to play basketball CAG or CNO

Fact remains, we are put out each year by a team that utilizes a mid-range game effectively. I'd like see us do that a little better.

BTW, I'm not saying stop shooting 3s especially if they're going in the basket

The best paid people in Basketball Those that literally makes millions of dollars, sign billion dollar contracts, the best minds in the sport disagree with you.

The percentages often work out in your favor.

1. Free throws 70%
2. Shots at the rim 60%
3. 3pt shot 35% (EFG 52%+)

on any night you can shoot 50% from the FT line, or 35% at the rim, or yes 28% from 3.

If teams run you off the 3, lane shots become more attractive. Pack the lane, shoot the 3.

the reason we drive so much, is due to our efforts to get to the line.

It’s how basketball at the highest level is played and evaluated.

you think Duke won because of their midrange game? They won because of the fact they have 4 lottery picks and an invisible whistle, and their guards were all 6’6” with a 7’2” rim o protector with a 100” wingspan.

ditto for UConn the year before.

SD State was a total mauling and our emotional state was shot.

It says something about the talent level that Oats is drawing to Bama that a team that often didn’t equal or exceed the sum of its parts still made its second straight Elite 8 and put a great record up against the toughest schedule in the country. I appreciate how hard the guys played even when calls, luck or matchups didn’t go their way. Tonight was maddening but it was a terrible matchup. I’m curious to see how Oats adjusts the roster - maybe an honest to God 7-footer and a banger or 2. Maybe taller guards. Thanks Mark, Grant and Cliff, and best of luck going forward.
Something to be said for seldom losing to an inferior team.

With Florida, their weak link is their 6’1” guard. A lot has to do with length and reach. If you noticed last night, several times when Bama was in transition, Duke’s 7’2” guy was on Sears. I think that was by design because unless he was pulling up from 30 feet, he wasn’t going to shoot over his length. And how many times did their 6’7 guard roast a smaller guy? IF you’re small, you better be able to be very physical.
Mark could be physical but don’t think that is his primary issue. IMO, he does not have the speed and quickness needed to compensate for his size. He may have gotten more out of his physical gifts than any Alabama player I can remember.

Pettway is the only player I can think of who is in the ballpark. He got by on little more than guts, smarts and want-to. That’s almost impossible at this level of basketball. Along with Reggie King, my two favorite players of all time.

Heartbreaking loss for me. I really do think Nate Oats will take us to the promised land eventually.

Our injuries affected us tremendously in this game. There were other issues, sure. But the injuries to key 3PT production earlier in the season killed us. To run Oat's system to its full potential we MUST have production throughout the entire roster no matter who is in the game imo.

Loved this team but I will always wonder what would have happened if Wrightsell and Mallete had played. Even having Naas Cunningham available could have helped. These are all just excuses in the end but just what I have been thinking about over the last 24 hours.

Winning a NC means ALL the cards have to fall in your favor in basketball and they just didn't for us this year.

Your disagreeement is not with me or anybody else here; it is with CNO.

There is only one limitation to his vision: roster

I'm 100% confident when he gets the roster he desires he'll bring a NC to T-town.

The second Wrightsell went down I thought Bama's chance for a national championship ended. A 40% 3 point shooter who had some dog in him. And then another 40% shooter in Mallette basically never suited up. Those were 2 valuable pieces. Having said that I am not sure Bama beats Duke with a full roster. I think Duke just too good right now.
