Nice breakdown and impressed with your knowledge. Wish I shared some of the optimism on some of those tough games and hope you read it better than I do but guess we will just have to see what we have this season. We have a shaky situation at the QB position and an injury could really affect the offense. Thanks for sharing your comments and really just look forward to kicking this thing off for 2025.

Good, fair, level-headed, fact-based analysis. I hope you’re right on the win total. I might have gone one less, just figuring that among several close games, we lose another one — particularly vulnerable in the Barn where weird stuff has happened way too many times.

For a lot of reasons, we’re a better team than 2024. Since I don’t see anybody being undefeated, that implies 10-2 or 11-1. My take is flip a coin. Either way, in the playoffs.

Late Add: My main concerns with this team are at RB and TE. Despite having highly recruited backs, we haven't had a good all-purpose guy you can count on for a tough yard in some time. I'm not sure how much of that was the OL and how much was the RBs. Regardless, our running game hasn't been good in a while now.

TE -- also no difference-makers since Irv Smith. Some could catch but weren't effective blockers. Some were road-graders who had hands of stone. Then for two years you had a QB constitutionally incapable of checking down to secondary receivers. The TE is a big part of DeBoer's offense. For it to click, the TE has to be at least passably effective.

I think QB will be OK. Maybe even above average. Ty needs to mature into keeping the last play in the history category. To now, he's had a tendency to take on a "poor me" or "poor us" thought process when things don't go according to plan. Being in his 4th year in the program, he should have matured out of that. If he hasn't by now, I'm not sure he ever will. If that's the case, next man up.

Alabama is a tough job with high expectations. Last year, CKD seemed overwhelmed and completely in over his head. If he has what it takes to run this kind of program, I really feel we have enough good coaches and good players to get to the playoffs. Feel mildly semi-confident that CKD can step up to the challenge and we'll absolutely need that. He has the pedigree. The program cannot go rudderless for another year.

Guess I'll go to my grave not understanding what CKD allowed to happen last year. Even the most detailed explanations I've read on here seem too hard to believe.

Like others, I don't understand the RBs. Did we miss on all those guys...don't think so. That's one area I do have confidence will be improved this year.

Really thought we'd go after OL in the portal. Didn't happen so I'm assuming/hoping they guys we have are taking that next step up. Biggest concern is whether enough have taken that next step that we'll have depth when needed.

We should have an awesome receiver group. If Williams cures his dropsies we can be better than awesome, and he might make a legit run at the Heismann.

Feel pretty good about all three levels on defense...really like those guys. No idea what to expect from special teams.
