Trump Policies, part IX

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

this is one of the reasons people refer to maga as a cult

It's one of the reasons I refer to it as a "cult" as well.

Now - no, not every voter for Trump in any of his three elections is AUTOMATICALLY "a member of the cult," either.

But I'm sorry, I've never seen anything like this. I thought the Clinton voters of the 90s were bad at defending anything the man did, but enough of them were disappointed enough or "time for a change" voters that his chosen successor lost. Folks would say the same about Reagan, but his approval rating nose-dived 21 points IN ONE MONTH when the voters learned about his trade of arms for hostages. That's not a cult, either, although I'll admit a few GOP politicians used to quote the man like he was a Bible verse.

And before anyone says "Obama," MOST of the references to Obama giving him Messianic attributes were from MEMBERS OF THE MEDIA, not the rank-and-file voter. Yes, Chris Mathews said something a tingle up his leg, Evan Thomas (IIRC) said something about "he's almost like a god" and Newsweek referred to his re-election as "The Second Coming." ALL. TRUE.

And Joe Biden was more of "look, it's a binary election and he's the only horse besides K.O. Pectate, so I'll vote for him."

This is a "win the battle; lose the war" idea. Hopefully Thune isn't taking this even remotely seriously.

Wow, that must be the smallest coterie ever! I bet they all take the same Uber to the meetings.

Most of what I say is designed to grab attention without necessarily going full shock jock. What's funny is the same thing happens to me in politics that happens to me in religion.

The atheist thinks I'm a fundamentalist.
The fundamentalist thinks I'm a liberal.
The liberal thinks I'm an educated fundamentalist.

I will concede being - as TideHSV has often described himself - more right than left, but I also abandon things that may be points of faith/principle but won't work in the real world. So it's certainly correct to say I qualify as a conservative in the Burke/Buckley/Goldwater/Reagan sense of the term (loosely - I'm not a trickle downer for example).

But in politics, I get called a hard right-winger by the left, a liberal by the Trump folks, and a moderate by the mainstream GOP folks (when that actually existed). I call folks on all sides of politics fitting nicknames from Cheeto Jeezus to Ponytail Guevarra to Kristi "K-9 Killer" Noem to a name I can't say here for Lauren Boebert.

We haven't had a leader I've respected since Daddy Bush left office. And if you ever want to jaw drop a conservative, point out to them that Bush in his actions was MORE CONSERVATIVE than Reagan was. Bush negotiated with Congress to decrease the budget deficit, actually invaded both Panama and Iraq (as opposed to the saber-rattling of Reagan sans Grenada), was a staunch anti-Communist, and as far as we know didn't deal with hostage takers while he had the power to do something about it. He was married to the same woman for 73 years, went to church on Sundays, and navigated an attempted coup in the USSR admirably. And Bush managed a government without his own party owning either house of Congress one single day of his Presidency.

Actions like sexual assault, inciting insurrection, fraud...oh yes, and

Yeah...a LOT of Lawfare most of it not happening until he ran for office....strangely enough.....

Trump’s post-election behavior was atrocious but never came close to threatening our democracy. That’s why the alleged “insurrection” didn’t even last till nightfall on Jan. 6.

Plus you left out brokering peace in the mid-east and elsewhere, closing the southern border - without any new legislation, and getting men out of women's sports.

Gas prices are lower than they have been for decades.

Historic agreement for NATO members to raise their defense spending to 5% of their GDP.

Meeting with 23 different foreign leaders.

Tariff initiatives which will help our country in the long run and is something that has been ignored for way too long while we watched American jobs go to other countries.

$7.6 Trillion pledged for new investments in business in the US by companies and foreign governments.

Many actions in the war on drugs - especially Fentanyl.

Economy doing well right now, too.

Going after crime in certain cities to help Americans feel safer.

Mopping up much of the illegal criminal element.....who entered the US during the last administration. More to do in this area.

And too many more actions to list.

And it hasn't even been a year in office.

Thanks for making me laugh pretty hard about the above:

"Economy doing well right now, too.”

It is amazing how much Kool-Aid people can drink from Trump’s lies.

Here are what the real numbers show us:

====

Decline in Manufacturing Jobs due to tariffs (clear with the drop since April):
1761931446650.png

- US Inflation rate at 3%, the highest since the Fed was able to take it under control in early 2024

- The US GDP growth rate for 2025 is projected to be around 1.6%, which is a decrease from the 2.8% growth in 2024

- The fastest growing of US National Debt due to reckless economic policies

- ….

Of course, Kool-Aid for Trump supporters is still FREE, and it is priceless. Unfortunately, the rest of Trump lies are not supported by the real data and only exist in Trump’s demented brain and freely shared with his supporters.

Yeah...a LOT of Lawfare most of it not happening until he ran for office....strangely enough.....
I'm not even sure I know what you mean here. A lot of lawfare didn't happen until he ran for office?

Trump’s post-election behavior was atrocious but never came close to threatening our democracy. That’s why the alleged “insurrection” didn’t even last till nightfall on Jan. 6.
So, now the measuring stick for an insurrection is how long it lasted? Not things like, number of people assaulted or killed, amount of damage done, bombing, legitimate threats to duly elected officials...or the fact that he just sat there ENJOYING THJE SHOW for 4 hours before doing anything--any even that was only at the behest of his aides.

Not things like the stuff Trump did beginning in July 2020 that planted the seeds of insurrection. Can't acknowledge that, because then you might have to acknowledge that 1. it was an insurrection and 2. Trump was behind it.

Plus you left out brokering peace in the mid-east and elsewhere, closing the southern border - without any new legislation, and getting men out of women's sports.
Oh, yeah, he ended 7-8 wars. I know because he told me.

Gas prices are lower than they have been for decades.
Gas prices ALWAYS go down in the fall. Besides, in 202 prices were down to $2.17/gallon; haven't seen anything that low recently.

Historic agreement for NATO members to raise their defense spending to 5% of their GDP.
Sure this is big enough to totally ignore the flaming maure pile of his other actions.

Meeting with 23 different foreign leaders.
He's gotta get that grift somehow.

Tariff initiatives which will help our country in the long run and is something that has been ignored for way too long while we watched American jobs go to other countries.
Right

$7.6 Trillion pledged for new investments in business in the US by companies and foreign governments.
Of course we've LOST a lot of investors due to his tariffs.

Many actions in the war on drugs - especially Fentanyl.
I particularly like the way he destroys boats with out bothering to confirm that they're carrying drugs, or with trying to capture them for that matter.

Economy doing well right now, too.
Clearly you haven't been in a grocery store recently.

I suspect soybean farmers would disagree with you.

Going after crime in certain cities to help Americans feel safer.

Mopping up much of the illegal criminal element.....who entered the US during the last administration. More to do in this area.
Are you referring to his ICE brownshirts? Or his attempts to send national guard units to crime hotbeds like (checks notes) Portland, Oregon.

And too many more actions to list.
Between Fox News, Newsmax, and Trump's own twitter feed, I've no doubt that list of claims is too numberous to list.

Installing a host of patently unqualified people in the nation's top positions...

Bulldozing the East Wing to blow half a million on a ballroom Is pretty significant, I guess.

and of course

Untitled.jpg Can't forget hosing millions of Americans in order to give the rich yet more money.

And it hasn't even been a year in office.
A fact that should be terrifying anyone not rich.

Saying "actions speak louder than words" as a Trump positive is really MAGA at its finest. Brainwashed cult that flat out ignores the 100 bad things while focusing on the 1 positive.
Bottom of the 9th. Down by two. Two in scoring position. No outs.

I don't understand why you don't bunt a guy home in that scenario.

Sure it's a gamble.

And maybe your particular batter isn't known for being a good bunter.

But you're getting paid MILLIONS of dollars to figure out a way around all that.

Then again - even if your team loses, you're still in it, so can't fault the manager to just try the old fashioned method of swinging away......which is what they did lol....

On to Game 7 for all the marbles.......
