  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Since the cost of meds such as Ozempic is a part of this thread, I'm jumping in with a slightly off topic comment. Ozempic is so ridiculously expensive because it's become a popular drug with the crowd trying to lose weight. I was put on it by an endocrinologist because I was diagnosed as diabetic a little over three months ago. I'm on original Medicare with supplementals, one for prescription. Recently spoke with my insurance agent and, yep, I'm already on the best one regarding this drug. I have to meet my deductible over the course of, I think, 8 months and then I pay $0 for the Ozempic. My son-in-law, who is not at all overweight but is diabetic, is also on it. He has private insurance, of course. He pays $30 for Ozempic a month. It will no longer matter for me since my body has not tolerated it well at all. Over three months on the stuff and I've only gotten sicker. My numbers are all terrific now and I have definitely lost a lot of weight--probably because I can barely get anything down and even some of that does not stay down. I get dizzy and frequently feel like I'm going to pass out. I can't go out and do anything much. I sit with a bucket nearby. And I am not doing it anymore!!! I'm officially off Ozempic! A little nausea in the beginning is supposed to be normal with this stuff. My body's reaction isn't. But I'm hearing that I'm not alone. I truly did not have these problems before so I'm just putting this out there.

Sorry to hear that you're having to deal with these side effects on top of the diabetes.

I've been on Ozempic for about 6 years. Initially, my stomach hurt for about a day after the injection. Not much anymore. And as advertised, it did a number on my appetite--I've lost a LOT of weight.

My wife's been on it for about 2 years; about 6 months ago she developed a sensitivity to red meat (which is one of the odder side effects). I'm trying to get her to try Monjauro, if for no other reason than I had just about got my recipe for beef short ribs perfected. :)

Not to pry, but are y'all taking it for diabetes or for weight loss? Feel free to ignore if you don't want to share.

I've been taking it for diabetes but just had too many problems with it. Most people don't have this many problems and adjust. Ozempic changes the way your body uses its own insulin. Too much weight can cause the body to resist that insulin which is why they want people who've developed diabetes to shed excess weight but they still frequently want you to stay on it because it helps so much to keep A1C levels in better range. I still need to lose a little more but I'm happy to do it with diet and exercise since the medicine has been so hard on me. Ozempic has helped a lot of people.
