These guys all tend to have massive egos, whether they project it or not.

If Kiffin leaves Ole Miss, it will happen because he thinks he’s good enough to restore a blue-blood to championship levels. That’s it. I doubt money is even all that important, because lord knows none of these guys are hurting. And it won’t be because he can’t win championships at Ole Miss. It will be his ego, plain and simple.

Generally speaking, you don’t get to this level of football without having a tremendous amount of hubris. Some guys conceal it well, but it pretty much has to be there. Saban had it too, he just didn’t want back in the NFL and knew that Bama was the pinnacle of CFB during his tenure.

Funny story. My wife is the controller for a big law firm here in Des Moines. Our 10th grader was a passenger in a two-car accident a couple weeks ago. Some of the kids had minor injuries, and went to get checked out at the ER.

One of her lawyers has been bugging her about taking her case. She keeps saying, "What case?" The kid doesn't have any lasting injuries.

I told my wife, "You know what he's doing. He's being an ambulance chaser."

None of those OM claimed titles are wire service (AP or Coaches poll) titles. If Alabama were to claim titles for all years that some selector named them, they would have 30-35 NCs.

(Alabama itself even includes one such title: 1941. That one very bogus selection somewhat degrades all of the others in the eyes of haters. What are they doing, trying to span from 34-61? If so, why not choose the 10-0 Rose Bowl winner from 1945 who finished 3rd to Army & Navy, rather than the 9-2 team that finished #20 in the AP? (Army deserved it far more than that great Alabama team. They were just unfortunate to exist in the same year as that almost transcendent Army team. They beat 2 #2 teams and 2 other top 10 teams. Their closest game was a 32-13 boat race of Navy. They won their 9 games by a score of 412-46, Their last 3 games of the year were 48-0 vs #2, 61-0 vs #6, 32-13 vs #2. Alabama beat 4 teams that finished the year ranked from 11-18, including a slaughter of #11 USC in their first RB loss in 10 tries - 34-14. It was 34-0 in the 4th when USC scored two TDs in garbage time vs backups. Alabama beat its opposition 430-80, with it's closest game being 28-14 vs UGA.))
