It's a different world today. But having said that, how bad does Brian Kelly look knowing he couldn't pull off what Ed Orgeron and Les Miles were able to do?
I think this will be a first. A head coach of a team (Ole Miss) that is probably a win away from a 1st-round bye in the CFPs, yet he's shopping around for another job?
Kiffin has pushed his redemption story for a while now. Even the 4-letter network did a special on it. If he bolts now, everything he's done with the warm and fuzzies goes out the window. He's back to where he was when he left Tennessee.
These guys all tend to have massive egos, whether they project it or not.I think this will be a first. A head coach of a team (Ole Miss) that is probably a win away from a 1st-round bye in the CFPs, yet he's shopping around for another job?

If Kiffin leaves Ole Miss, it will happen because he thinks he’s good enough to restore a blue-blood to championship levels. That’s it. I doubt money is even all that important, because lord knows none of these guys are hurting. And it won’t be because he can’t win championships at Ole Miss. It will be his ego, plain and simple.
Generally speaking, you don’t get to this level of football without having a tremendous amount of hubris. Some guys conceal it well, but it pretty much has to be there. Saban had it too, he just didn’t want back in the NFL and knew that Bama was the pinnacle of CFB during his tenure.
Is he not aware that that's where he is now?Kiffin has to be aware that he can make gobs of cash at LSU and that if it goes sideways he can get a massive buy out and then would be hired in microseconds by another school.
My take: Kiffin is using the publicity to build anticipation into recruiting. He'll have an announcmeent that he stays at OM and there will be huge celebrations there that he / they will exploit for the "good" of the program. He'll get a pay raise, extension, and huge buyout penalty if he leaves 3,5,10 years from now.He is the master of trolling. After watching his interview on the Pat McAfee show yesterday, where he sounded all-in on Oxford, I'm really undecided on WHO he is trolling at the moment. That being said, trolling is ok for msg board fun, but big-time college football is a business. You can make your Twitter fun jabs on your own time, but if this is a true troll job, it's lame. That's my opinion.

If he does otherwise, then espn needs to burn the tape of the documentary they did at the beginning of the season.
Jimmy Sexton and agents like Jimmy Sexton are vultures. They are what's wrong with college football. The world will be a better place when the name : Jimmy Sexton is no longer affiliated with college football.
A lot of the agents have law degrees. if they weren't agents my guess is they would be ambulance chasing, Saul Goodman type lawyers.Jimmy Sexton and agents like Jimmy Sexton are vultures. They are what's wrong with college football.

It's all about contracts, so definitely lawyers everywhere...A lot of the agents have law degrees. if they weren't agents my guess is they would be ambulance chasing, Saul Goodman type lawyers.
I get what you’re saying, but IMO, LSU and Florida are no more “blue blood” than Ole Miss is.These guys all tend to have massive egos, whether they project it or not.

None of those OM claimed titles are wire service (AP or Coaches poll) titles. If Alabama were to claim titles for all years that some selector named them, they would have 30-35 NCs.I get what you’re saying, but IMO, LSU and Florida are no more “blue blood” than Ole Miss is.
Prior to Nick Saban, LSU’s last national championship was won in 1958. Ole Miss was better in those days, claiming titles in 1959, 1960, and 1962.
Florida didn’t win a championship until Spurrier did it in 1996. Heck, Florida didn’t even win a SEC title that wasn’t forfeited due to sanctions until 1990.
Certainly since integration took place in the 1970s, then the explosion of Florida schools in recruiting in the 1980s, both LSU and Florida rocketed up the list of power schools. But I could not define them as “blue bloods” in the traditional sense.
But maybe I’m being pedantic.
