Bama Game Thread: Official PostGame Thread - Bama @ AU...

I watched DeBoer and Grubb run those triple reverse throwback flea flicker halfback option Philly special plays in Washington with precision and execution. At Bama, those plays are destroyed in the first leg of all that. I don’t know if it’s the athletes in this conference or what, but they need to stop all that.
The athletes mostly. Too much speed/strength across the board for that to work too much.
It can work in the Pac whatever because the talent/speed (on defense, anyway) is just not there from top to bottom.

Weirdly they or maybe Grubb cannot see it though...initially, our offense was simple and effective, Ty's completion rate was ridiculous...but Grubb seems to have forgotten why that was

My only question, why did he have confidence in the defense? They got gashed from midway through the 2nd quarter on.
Not really. Basically had a bust on one play and a missed tackle on another that gave AU a third of their yards and 2 TDs. They were more than good enough outside of those 2 plays despite our offense putting them in bad positions multiple times.

Maybe we can get off Ty’s back about his throws? If he’s got the electric shock going during the game it’s got to be pretty bad.
As someone who spent the last two years fighting back issues to the point of finally caving to the surgeon’s knife last month, I know how crippling back spasms can be. Every muscle in your abdomen locks up to compensate. Even STEM treatments can only do so much.

After FSU, that was our offense. It was effective. We really didn’t try to run the ball. And we had long, sustained 8 minute drives throwing the ball. Ty looked like a Heisman candidate and things were humming. Then about the Mizzou game, the offense changed. We fell in love with Krispy Kreme and the like, the OLine hadn’t gelled enough to run the ball, but by God Coach Grubb read somewhere you had to do that in this league. And that was the normal thinking, myself included. except it was a round peg in a square hole in this offense. Now, we have no confidence throwing the ball, we have no confidence running the ball and key players are hurt. They better figure some things out quick because Kirby is tired of Hearing about Alabama and wants to hang 50 on us.

I can fully understand why Grubb got fired from Seattle after one season.
He doesn’t have a quarterback that fits his style. His style is to push the ball down the field with the passing game which Simpson doesn’t do well. I also think he has some sort of injury as there isn’t much on the throws over 20 yards. They are more just toss it up there type throws.
