Why Did You Initially Join TideFans???

I got sick and tired of listening to Longhorn and Aggie fans. No one out here in Houston understands what TRUE tradition is all about. Also my father and I had been going back and forth on some things about Bama football and I wanted to see what the overall opinion of Bama nation was. I also definately love the insider information on the recruiting board and high school sports board. if it wasn't for tidefans.com the only thing I would know about FHS's season this year was the scores and the Daphne game (we were robbed) that I attended. I know I've had it out with a couple people on this board (LCN love ya brother) but I'm even grateful to be able to argue with somebody who at least knows what their talking about. It's very tiring trying to talk any kind of sports out here in the "Lone Star State" Anyways...I think this is a great site and I'm very thankful to the Mods, Admin's, and fellow members who have allowed me to immerse myself in Bama culture while living in this God forsaken town known as Houston. I truly understand the song Sweet Home Alabama now...because out here the skies are most definately not blue...they are like a dingy greyish brown...pray for me!

Way back in 96 (I believe that was the year) a number of us got sick and tired of al.com and all the bashing. So, we decided to start an AOL club for us. That has morphed (thanks to all of Brent's hard work) into what you see today!

I have been living in arkansas since leaving the capstone and this is the only place i can get a feel about what is going on with alabama football and its fans. This serves as my sports section for alabama football from august thru february. Also very good to hear some scoops when it comes to recruiting.

Roll Tide, and beat aubarn.

i found this site around 3 years ago when the recruiting bug bit me. i was a lurker for a long time before joining and can say with a great deal of certainty that this site is truly "by the fans, for the fans." this is truly a well run site and has been a detriment to my already poor study habits.

I came across this site almost by accident when I was surfing the web. I had been reading articles from al.com for some time because living in Orange you know what all I hear is viles, viles, fatphil, viles, fatphil, ad nauseum. The Chattanooga Times-News Free Press coverage of Bama is close to nil.

I joined the same day I found the site -- it was like a crimson lifebelt to a person drowing in orange goo!

Yeah , LOL . That "BB" was BamaBobo . I bet there are a few more BB's out there - you , BamaBobo , BamaBlake(?) etc. . I think there is also a BamaBryan .

This site has no real competition . I've pulled a couple of those recipes as well - good stuff . I really like the Basketball forum too .

I was a member of the old Bamafans listserve group from about 1995 or so. Eventually, as messageboards began to take off, I found that there were less and less of us on Bamafans, so I eventually stopped posting there.

I don't remember when I first found Tidefans. I guess that I first joined in 1997 or 1998 and went through several usernames, one of the last being TiderInVestavia or something like that. There were a lot of technical problems in 1998 or 1999 and I had problems signing on several times and finally just quit posting. I was also putting in longer and longer hours at work and just couldn't find as much time to post.

The anticipation of our season in 2000 and the #3 preseason ranking got the best of me and I hunted up the site before the season started. I've been here ever since. I once was about #5 or so in the number of posts before the changeover to the new board. I lost about 7000 or 8000 posts on my count.

The funny thing about that group is the majority of the members on Bamafans are still posting on the 'net. I still remember the rule that Dreamland wasn't an allowed topic because it wasn't football.

I started posting back before the meltdowns.

I joined so that the mods could reset my post-counts repeatedly :) ;) :rolleye2: :p :biggrin2:

To get away from AL.com and all the flamers. It is awesome to have a site that you can read informative posts without having to be bombarded with all the negative posts from rivals. I only wish I would have found TideFans earlier.

Roll Tide.

I joined because I was on the road a bunch and this was the best way to get good information and discuss the team unlike a couple of other "Bama" boards that I checked out.

I can't say I've never messed with a post count on threads like this before...but I'm not guilty on this one.

This is a really good question. I used to go to al.com but got tired of all the flamers. There were never any intelligent opinions exchanged. I was looking for a website where I could talk to other Bama fans who really followed the game and had class. I happened to find someone on al.com who informed me of Tidefans.com, I wish I could remember who it was. But I have not been to al.com since and do not care to visit other Bama message boards other than Tidefans.com. This really is as good as it gets. Roll Tide Roll, and beat the barn.
