I had to work today so I am glad I missed most of the game. Got to hear end of the 4th qtr and it was not good. Johns fumble killed us but we must not have played well earlier.......what is going on?

Yeah I tuned in when Johns took the ball... and I was glad to see him return. But then seconds later it was a fumble. Classic.
Someones head should roll after the last two weeks. Motivation and inspired play are position coaches responsibilities and the job isn't getting done. What is it, was Tenn win enough so lets call it a season? This team has been in freefall mode since then.
And I hope everyone that has been griping about lack of playing time for JJ is happy that he got to finally play. I think I know why he hasn't.

You're joking right? Talent is why you lose to LSU. Talent is why you lose to UGA. Talent is why you lose to FSU. When you are the University of Alabama heart and effort are why you don't lose to ULM. Stop trying to somehow blame this on Shula, Price, Fran or whoever. This loss lies squarely on this team and this coaching staff's shoulders. By the way, this team is about middle of the pack in the SEC as far as talent goes. Plenty of talent to win big today.
Well said. It is embarrassing to lose to ULM (who are they anyway?) but this season is about what i expected (i predicted 7-5 so we are gonna beat the Barn to make my prediction come true,
.I have not lost any confidence in Coach Saban. He will take us to the promised land. We just have to take a chill pill and try to play our best game of the year vs the Barn. If we beat them, no matter how unlikely it may seem, my year is made.
Man for man, I doubt they have MORE than we do, but honestly, I bet you would be surprised how much blue chip talent there is on both of those teams you've mentioned when compared to our current roster. Nick even commented on that very thing in the post game interview. If you dont believe me, then take it from Coach Saban. We DO have a handful of great skilled players, but in my honest opinion that is ALL the talent we have on this team(outside of Andre Smith). When a team fails to execute on a continual basis, then what other natural conclusion can one come to?
As I said before, lack of execution and costly turnovers was the main reason we lost today, but ultimately a huge infusion of blue chip talent is what this program needs to get back to the upper tier--sorry, meant to say respectability-- of the SEC.

i've a ? eli announced prior to kickoff that an ath. dept. rep. handed him a note stating d.j.hall wouldn't play today due to disc. reasons. then he shows up in the 2nd half. eli and snake were curious about this.
Something is wrong at Bama with this team. Quandry since the staff did a great job early in the season to begin to slide like this raises many questions. I felt before the season started that we were short on talen, depth and experience. In short, lacking players who could win consistently. Turns out the assessment was correct. Did not see or hear the game so can't assess motivation and emotion--takes both to win.
No question Saban must have time to get blue chippers in who have the mental and physical attributes is takes to win championships. Under the circumstances I believe Jess is correct--three years with great recruiting classes and we should be on our way. Meantime, it is going to be tough to take this kind of defeat. I thought we were at least past that phase---guess I was wrong.
See where Moore is pushing for the stadium expansion. We need to keep moving forward with facilities so we do not fall behind as we did over the past three decades. Meantime, pray hard!
All of these excuses were fine and dandy last week against MSU. The reason we scheduled this game was to give us a break going into Auburn and give the starters some rest towards the end. Losing to ULM is just straight up unacceptable, it is not part of the process, and we looked like a joke suspending DJ for the game, and then all of a sudden in the 3rd quarter he was back in and it was changed to a 1/2 game suspension. Talk about empowering a 22 year old. I am glad this game was not televised.
Fours years of the loser mentality have ruined most of the players on this team. Its like a cancer running through their psyche that flairs-up sometime during every game.
They don't have the will, desire, guts to win. Even this year, listening to some players after the games, you would get the idea that it is OK to lose. Just try again next week. It doesn't really bother them. They have no pride. Sure everyone will SAY they want to win, but your pride,character and performance say otherwise.
They don't have "IT". Sure there are about 6 or 7 individuals that have "it",but overall, the team does not.
As bad as I hate hearing people mention "the process", I believe that is exactly what will have to take place. We will have to bring in players and immunize them from the cancer that runs through the minds of most of the other ones.
Its not the players fault. Its the CMS era that has had a much bigger negative effect on thes kids than we realize. And most just cant seem to get rid of it.
The only thing I question about the coaches is some play calling and maybe a QB change sometime to shake things up.
But, it will get better. :smile:

We need the extra practice.

We seem to have a lot of trouble controlling the line of scrimmage at key moments--that's talent.
I think one of the earlier posters hit the nail on the head when he said the other players who are held accounable week end and week out for their play. Continue to see the qb screw up week end and week out and not be held accountable. Eventually players lose confidence and it effects their play.:BigA:
I'm glad I didn't stay home today and listen to the game, although I did catch bits of it here and there. I had a much better time shopping. It sounds as though the game was pretty pitiful. I'm going to refrain from saying too much right now, because disgust has set in. Its seems this team has given up for whatever reason and I don't expect that mindset to change between now and next Saturday.
Its just my personal opinion of course, I hope Coach Saban takes the opportunity to plan for the future of this team and play some younger players next week, win or lose. 7-5 is pretty much now a reality no matter who is on the field. You are "right on". It is extremely difficult to unteach the bad and reteach the correct method. What we saw today is evidence of that.
Still, there is enough talent on this team to win against teams like ULM.
On to next week. I believe the Tide will play inspired football against the barn. Don't bet against them.
Honestly, how many "blue chippers" do you think ULM has? They were 4-6 coming into today. Not really beating the world with all that talent are they? Do you think they are better than Middle TN or Tulsa (who squeaked by my Army team today) how about North Texas? You're living in a dream world if you think they have anywhere close to as much talent as we do. That's a lame execuse.
