I wanted to see nothing to do with his origins. I only meant his "rising" in the movie, from beginning to end. I felt they could've gone into further details, similar to his first meeting with the mob bosses and the burning of the money scene.

FAVORITE LINE: "I can make this pencil disappear."

That was like freaking AWESOME!

Apparently, Nolan had an original cut that clocked in at 3 hours. No telling what got chopped up on the editing room floor.

And I think we'll all agree that the pencil scene will be talked about for quite some time.

Oh, no it's definitely cool, man. I realized they were pressed for time, though, but that's my only con, even though it's NOTHING major.

Hopefully a director's cut edition will be a DVD feature when it comes out.

Saw it last night here in Barntown.

What a great movie! As one reviewer said, it was more of an intense crime drama that happened to have source material drawn from a comic.

I loved the Joker's plots to force a choice between saving Dent and Rachel as well as his prisoner's dilemma stunt with the boats. They really got into what makes the Joker tick and why he does what he does.

No doubt that "How about a magic trick? I'm going to make this pencil disappear!" *THUMP* is going down as one of the all-time great movie lines.

The Watchmen trailer was just icing on the cake. I'm going to be waiting anxiously for that one. I wonder how they're going to cram the whole story into 2 1/2 hours and whether they'll keep it set in the Cold War era 80's?

I'm going to have to go see it again. I think I missed half of the plot just waiting to see what The Joker would do next. In my opinion, Ledger stole the show. What sucks about that is everyone that was in the movie did an incredible job. For me the plot and action and whatever was really good, but what made the movie was the performances by everyone that was in it.

Agreed... it really was a great ensemble piece. Specifically, I was surprised at how good Aaron Eckhart did with the character of Harvey Dent.

Just got back from seeing it tonight.

WOW!!! I haven't thoroughly enjoyed an action movie like that in years! Heath Ledger was the MAN. I can totally understand now why he needed all those sleeping pills. If I were creating that character, I wouldn't be able to sleep either.:eek2:

Wow! If Ledger doesn't at least get nominated for an Academy award for that performance there is something seriously wrong! That was one of if not the best villain portrayal I've ever seen in a film. He completely stole the show IMO! The "pencil trick" was freakin' awesome!!! That's one time where I feel you can definitely say you got your money's worth in seeing that film. It was great!

I just got back from seeing it the second time around. I must admit, it was even better than the first time.

I swear, the copy cat Batman hitting the Mayor's window gets me every time...

Another thing people may have overlooked was when the mobster claimed The Joker was crazy and he swiftly replied, "I'M NOT crazy... I'm not crazy." For some odd reason, I FREAKING LOVED THAT RESPONSE. There was just SOMETHING sane about it, if that makes any sense.

One other thing, when the copy cat was repeating what The Joker jotted down on the piece of paper for him to say, I loved the part where he violently screamed, "LOOK AT ME!" Did that not send an eerie chill down anyone's spine?

That was one of my favorites as well. Like he could tell from the explosions that something wasn't right.

Also, the scene in the hospital with Dent - The Joker, dressed as a nurse, sits down in the chair and gives a casual, innocent: "Hiii..."

Brilliant performance.

If anyone is familiar with the comic books, The Mad Hatter made a brief appearance in The Dark Knight, according to Wikipedia:


"Tetch has a brief role in The Dark Knight as an underling accomplice of The Joker. While not appearing as the Mad Hatter, he is identified by Batman when being threatened by Harvey Dent for information."

If Wiki is referring to the guy who was a member of the "firing squad" during the commissioner’s funeral, that was eventually captured and was wearing a Rachel Dawes name tag, his name was Tetch Thomas (Sounded like he said Shift Thomas), a paranoid schizophrenic.
