Fluker vs. Alex Okafor at Army AA practice (Texas commit - 5 star DE, #2 DE according to Rivals; 4 Star, #6 by Scout):

Fluker is in phenomenal shape for his size. I'd wouldn't be surprised if he could do a standing back-flip.

ooh, and another one racing Chris Davenport (LSU commit, 5 Star DT): http://rivals.yahoo.com/video/recru...-race-42949;_ylt=Ao1_xSWx7roX9.ZgP2WO5YiSJaN4

What a nightmare for opposing players and coaches. :eek2:

That young man appears to be ahead of where Chris Samuals and Andre Smith in their Senior seasons.

Good Gooly Goo that is one amazing player. He should have been Mr. Alabama Football. :BigA:

Do you think he starts at Bama as a true Freshman?

You like your offensive lineman to be aggressive and block until the whistle. I don't think Fluker will have a problem with that.

During a one-on-one drill in the afternoon, defensive tackle Calvin Howell injured his knee after 6-foot-7.5, 350-pound offensive tackle D.J. Fluker blocked him into a portable water dispenser.

I wouldn't put DJ in quite the same category as Andre Smith at this stage in his football career, but there is no doubt he is an outstanding prospect. He is going to be something to behold before he leaves Alabama.

I'm curious to see if he will start as a true freshman.

Ladies and Gentlemen, meet Alabama's next left tackle. This guy is dominating the AA game practices and will undoubtedly shoot up into the top 10-15 range. I've heard some say he might be the best prospect in America.

Imagine a class with Fluker, Richardson, and Randle. And we thought the 2008 class was the best ever at Alabama. We didn't even know about the 2009 class yet. haha.

That was kind of an odd video. Nobody did anything but Fluker and his man.

I know that he's about 6'7", but Fluker looks very trim and agile for a 350 pounder!

I agree, but I believe Fluker probably has more potential than Andre and that in itself is a pretty scary thought! :eek2:

I believe he'll easily push for immediate playing time his first year, whether he gets it or not will likely depend on how fast he can grasp the offense and how quickly he can progress from a technical standpoint at the position (after all let us not forget he's only had one season of playing OT under his belt).

Also, I'd be shocked if he doesn't make a serious move up the rankings the next time they're updated.

BEAT , I'm leaning in that direction as well - heavily :)

Hilarious

"That water [dispenser] was just too close to the drill," said Davenport. "When that D.J. Fluker locks on to you, you are going to go for a ride."

Fluker said he feels like he could put on an extra 20 more pounds and still be as agile as he is now... So after one year under Pendry that would be 6'7.5 370 lbs??? He could end being better that Andre. Also, I think he ends up in the Top 5 after the game. One Rivals analyst said that his family should petition the NFL because DJ would be drafted first day.

I think fluker will need more foot work than Andre, Andre had a lower center of gravity and Andre had a country boy strength that was off the scale. I believe Fluker can be every bit as dominating as Andre but I don't expect him to be as good his first year as Andre was.

Just thinking of how far we have come talent wise in the last few years gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside, talking about if a freshman tackle will be all SEC his first year or his second.

re: D.J. Fluker AA Practice Updates: Pancakes Okafor/ Shows Skills/ Wins Race (Videos)

The good thing is that our offense is built for this guy. His footwork might need work, but we aren't going to pass more than 20 times a game as long as the run is working. We'll still be a run-heavy team next year and if Fluker can get on campus in late May/early June...I expect him to be our starting LT and Carpenter to play RG.

We might not have a terribly huge drop off in run blocking, we'll definitely have to protect our left-side a little more in pass protect. Andre was so good, he helped the right side too by being able to lock down his side by himself. I had an OU fan on another board (talking about Fluker) tell me something pretty astounding (considering where we were at a few years ago): "you were saying Alabama's line was going to have a drop off. You forget, Alabama is an elite team now: you don't rebuild, you reload."

Fluker isn't going to win the Jacobs and Outland next year, but this kid is every bit as capable of following Andre's career path: start from day one, rack up accolades in-conference in year two, be a top-tier draft pick and All-American by year three. With our staff, I have no doubt that Fluker will be in Andre's income bracket by 22.
