“Marco is the best,” Trump posted on social media. “He knows Iran better than anyone—because he’s now in charge of it. Tremendous guy. Very tough on hostages, which is perfect because there won’t be any more. Believe me.”

Rubio, speaking from what sources say is a temporary office in the former Supreme Leader’s residence, outlined his immediate priorities: releasing all detained Americans “immediately or else,” designating certain IRGC factions as redundant, and renaming the Strait of Hormuz the “Rubio Channel” for better branding.

nothing to see here folks, please move along

Just days before the United States launched a major military operation in Iran, FBI Director Kash Patel fired a dozen agents and staff members from a counterintelligence unit tasked with monitoring threats from Iran, according to two sources familiar with the matter.

They were ousted for a simple reason: Each was involved in the investigation of President Donald Trump’s alleged retention of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate.

Why don't you inform Trump and his idiot lawyers, because they are the ones who keep throwing the idea out there?

I can't count how many times Trump has said elections should be controlled by the federal government in the last year. Acting like this is just some crazy thing we talk about online is disinengious when it is your own stupid president floating the idea over and over and over.

Trump has attempted many things through illegal EOs. Maybe taking over elections would ultimately fail, but I don't think it is crazy to think Trump would actually try.
Well, Trump and his lawyers are not under my control.
But to float a fanciful conspiracy theory about the future (which is nonfalsifiable) is also a bit disengenous.
When Trump somehow orders states to cancel elections and states for some reason comply and the November 2026 elections are actually cancelled somehow, then let me know. I'll join you on the ramparts.
Until then, it's just a kooky idea.

The whole "bomb, bomb, bomb Iran" thing would arguably be a just and righteous mission, but the fact that Trump is calling the shots makes me completely skeptical.

Anything he touches is laced with lies, self-promotion, and self-protection, and personal enrichment over national goals. The whole thing is just so very, very Trump-ish, and instead of the U.S., this time the whole planet will feel the nasty collateral effects.

The other extraordinarily likely train wreck? Even if the mission was completely righteous, with Trump it will be action without a fully formed plan, and will turn into an extended horror of mis-calculation.

I weep for humanity.
Every Republican supporting this war must ask themselves: if Harris declared it, would they still support it? Every Democrat must ask themselves: if Harris declared it, would they still oppose it? I don't think anyone here will have to think too deeply about this question because we all know the answer. Personally, I am making no pronouncements about this until I see what happens next. And I swear to God, if this turns into another Afghanistan, I may finally cast my lot with the protesters are start burning stuff down. (Probably not; I'm too pretty for jail. Still, I'll be thinking about it.)

A kooky idea that Trump continues to float. He's trying to normalize the idea so that when he attempts it, people just go along with it as they did in 2020.
