Auburn defensive lineman [ame="http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3799449"]Auburn Tigers defensive lineman Sen'Derrick Marks to enter draft - ESPN[/ame] said early Tuesday morning that he will enter the NFL draft, and announce it at a news conference later in the day. Marks, a junior, said that he stands 6 foot 2 and recently weighed in at 302 pounds. Marks said Tommy Tuberville's departure from Auburn had nothing to do with his decision to leave. Marks said he had good discussions with new coach Gene Chizik, but is simply ready to leave school. Marks had 10½ tackles for loss, including two sacks this season and a forced fumble.

Also on Sunday, Shannon said defensive back [ame="http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3796330"]Shawnbrey McNeal, Daniel Adderley, Anthony Reddick leaving Hurricanes - ESPN[/ame] -- who could have sought to play one more season at Miami if he wanted after missing last year with a knee injury, something that plagued him during his five years with the Hurricanes -- will leave with hopes of playing in the NFL next season. Reddick appeared in all 13 games this season, starting 11, and finished with 67 tackles, second-best on the team behind sixth-year senior linebacker Glenn Cook's 76.

Illinois junior cornerback Vontae Davis will forgo his final year of eligibility and enter the 2009 NFL draft. The two-time first-team All-Big Ten selection could be the first cornerback selected in April's draft. Davis' older brother, Vernon, plays tight end for the San Francisco 49ers. Davis, a three-year starter for the Illini, led Big Ten cornerbacks with 78 tackles to go along with two interceptions and 10 pass deflections this season. As a sophomore he recorded four interceptions, eight pass breakups and a career-best 13 solo tackles against USC in the Rose Bowl. The 6-foot, 204-pound Davis was twice named a semifinalist for the Thorpe Award.

Word is DE Antonio Coleman is pretty interested as well. He has scheduled a press conference Saturday at 3 p.m. at Mobile’s Williamson High School. Call me crazy, but you'd think if he were coming back he would announce somewhere on Auburn's campus. :conf2: If he goes CNS could get a fresh start with Terrence Coleman. I dont know how high he is on the recruiting list though.

DB Jerraud Powers is getting an evaluation as well but I would be surprised if he is a first day pick. I think he'll be back.

Wednesday, following Vanderbilt’s 16-14 victory over Boston College in the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl, the Commodores’ All-American defensive back D.J. Moore made it known to the world that he will forgo his final season of eligibility and make himself available for the NFL Draft in April. Moore revealed his decision during a post-game interview with ESPN and reaffirmed a short time later after he showered and dressed. “About the middle of the season I decided I was good enough to leave,” he said. “I had done well. ... I wanted to be All-American, so once I was All-American there was pretty much nothing left to do.” Moore was named second-team All-America by the Associated Press after he had a team-high six interceptions, caught seven passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns, rushed eight times for 73 yards and was the team’s leader in kickoff and punt returns.

From what I've read, we don't have room for him. Personally I don't see any scenario where we would take him at this point.

I've read a couple of places that it looks like he is leaning toward Arkansas at this time. The question is will Chizik be able to reel him back in to All-Barn?

Shonn Greene, playing in his last game for Iowa, went out in style. The Big Ten's most valuable player, who told ESPN's Joe Schad that he will enter this spring's NFL draft, rushed for 121 yards and three touchdowns Thursday, helping the Hawkeyes trounce South Carolina 31-10 in the Outback Bowl. Greene, who sat out the 2007 season because of academic problems, ran for more than 100 yards in all 13 of Iowa's games and scored in all but one. He finished with school single-season records of 1,850 yards and 20 TDs. "Its been a tremendous college experience but I'm not sure what more there is for me to do in college," Greene said. He said he's been told that he could expect to be drafted within the first two rounds.

Kansas State junior quarterback Josh Freeman said Thursday he will enter this spring's NFL draft. "I've done all the research," said Freeman, who is 6-6, 238 pounds. "Kansas State is starting over and this is what I've always wanted to do. The time is right." Freeman says he has been told by an NFL advisory committee that he could be a high second-round pick. But Freeman could work his way into the first round because of his prototypical size and arm strength.

South Carolina cornerback Captain Munnerlyn told The State after the Outback Bowl he will forgo his final season to enter the NFL draft. The NFL’s advisory committee projected Munnerlyn as a first- to third-round draft pick, he said. Munnerlyn initially told a group of reporters after the game he still had not made up his mind. “Me and Norwood both talked to our folks and I think the best decision for me and my family is to go ahead and leave,” Munnerlyn said. “It’s time for me to move on.”

6'6" 238lbs :eek2: If he's got a decent head on his shoulders, he could be a really good one.

We'll have to watch this one for more comfirmation as it comes from one of Joe Schad's 'person close to the player' sources.

LSU defensive lineman [ame="http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3804487"]Source: LSU defensive lineman Ricky Jean-Francois will enter the NFL draft - ESPN[/ame] will enter the NFL draft, a person close to the player said Thursday. Jean-Francois, a junior, was named defensive MVP of the 2008 BCS National Championship game against Ohio State, recording six tackles and assisting on a sack in the Tigers' 38-24 defeat of the Buckeyes in New Orleans. The 6-3, 281-pounder from Miami finished with 18 tackles and two sacks this season.

Andrew Davie figures it's now or never on his bid for a pro football career. The Arkansas tight end, who had already spent four years as a minor league baseball player, has decided to forgo his senior season and declare for the NFL Draft. "A big part of it is my age," Davie said. "Honestly, this time last year I thought it was time. I put a lot of thought into it going into this year that this would be my last hurrah." Davie, who will turn 26 on Jan. 5, played four years in the St. Louis Cardinals organization before returning to football. The former Central Arkansas Christian two-sport star walked on at Arkansas in 2005 and was awarded a scholarship the following season.

Ah, that's really a loss in name only for the ol' Bayou Bengals. Francois had a huge amount of hype coming into the year, but he was a massive disappointment this season. About all he did of note was run his mouth about Tebow before the Florida game.

There he is! ^^^

That was a fun and interesting thread last year. I was wondering when you'd make an appearence in this one. :)

BTW, according to some of the LSU forums there were real questions if RJF would even be eligible next season. A few were surprised he made it to the bowl game. Apparently he dislikes school.

Jeraud who???:conf2:

IMHO, if you couldn't make it on the 3rd All-SEC team as a DB, why would you even attempt to declare for the NFL draft???

stay for your senior season and enjoy the college environment while you can, at least people and fans know who you are on campus.

The junior announced Saturday he's going to bypass his senior season with the Scarlet Knights and declare for the NFL draft. Britt led the Big East this season with 87 catches for 1,371 yards. He scored seven touchdowns for Rutgers, which won its last seven games to finish 8-5. Eben Britton, the Arizona Wildcats' star offensive tackle, will forgo his senior season and declare for the upcoming NFL draft. Britton told the Arizona Daily Star late Friday that he wanted to pursue his dream of going pro. "It's right in front of me, and I wanted to take it," Britton said. "The past couple weeks I've been talking it over and discussing it with my parents. It's the feeling in my heart. I'm ready for the next challenge." NFL analysts view Britton, a 6-foot-6-inch, 310-pounder from Burbank, Calif., as one of the top available tackles in this year's draft. Britton earned first-team All-Pac-10 honors this past season as a junior.

and of course, Andre Smith. I've heard rumors about Coffee too, but I'm just not sure if he's quite good enough at this time.

Alabama left tackle Andre Smith announced his intention to declare for the NFL Draft late tonight. Smith was a consensus All-American and winner of the Outland Trophy awarded to the nation's top offensive lineman. The Birmingham native and Huffman High product started for three years for the Crimson Tide and allowed one sack in 2008. The 6-foot-4, 330-pound junior is considered by pundits a lock to be a Top 5 NFL draft pick.

After leading his team to a 38-20 victory over Buffalo in the International Bowl, Connecticut running back Donald Brown announced Saturday that he will enter the NFL draft. "I'm not coming back," Brown said after rushing for a career-high 261 yards. "I'm going to pursue the NFL." The leading rusher in the Football Bowl Subdivision, Brown said three weeks ago that he would return to UConn for his senior season. He concluded this season with a school-record 2,083 yards rushing and set another UConn record with 18 touchdowns.

No kidding. Now was that a fun thread or what? Just remember...

red55 said:
But, as far as the defensive line, I'll say it now . . . this will be the best D-line we have ever had at LSU.
fishhead said:
This year's D-line will be phenomonal. Rickey Jean Francois>>>>>>Glenn Dorsey, and that comes from a HUGE Dorsey fan.
fishhead said:
As I stated earlier, IMHO, RJF is better than Dorsey. That said, also IMHO, the supporting cast is better than the supporting cast from last year.
And, you know, I really do enjoy the LSU fans that come on here. They are generally friendly and just looking to have some good football discussion -- which unfortunately is a rarity on the old www -- but honestly sometimes they just go so extreme with the sunshine pumping that pointing out the absurdities is about as easy as shooting fish in a barrel.

Meanwhile, those of us who don't drown in an ocean of purple and gold kool-aid could see the writing on the wall...

JessN said:
You don't replace a Glenn Dorsey. I don't care how many 5-stars-in-waiting there are on the bench. It's even hard to replace a Flynn, especially since the guy favored to do it has already shown some terrible judgment off the field thus far in his young life. The West is going to be wide-open next year.
And...

BigEasyTider said:
As for the defense, I definitely wouldn't be deeming Dorsey "replaceable." I've been watching LSU since the days of Charles Alexander, so I've seen almost 30 years of LSU football, and Dorsey is the best player I've ever seen in purple and gold.
At any rate, Francois was eligible for the bowl game. I know he probably didn't like school -- hence his suspension in 2007 -- but if you can be eligible for the bowl game, you can get eligible for the following season with relative ease. Now he may not have wanted to come back because of the school-related requirements, but I think it's pretty absurd to say he wouldn't have been academically eligible for 2009. To me, that's more of a post-hoc rationalization for why he wouldn't come back more than any factual basis for why he chose the route that he did.

The general thought on Freeman around these parts is that he might have left a little early. Many thought he would have benefited from a year under Bill Snyder at Kansas St. He has exactly what scouts are looking for physically but he was still a little eratic at times. I think Ron Prince getting canned had some to do with his decision too, IMO.
