One look at his impressive list of early offers, and it's easy to tell why Class of 2011 defensive end Ray Drew (Thomasville, Ga./Thomas County Central) could end up being one of the most heavily recruited defensive linemen in the Southeast during the next recruiting cycle. Drew picked up his fifth scholarship offer this week when Georgia Tech joined Florida, Florida State, Georgia and Alabama.
The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder was happy to receive an offer from the Yellow Jackets.
Apparently LB James Vaughters has a Bama verbal offer but not a written offer yet. AJC reported back in March that Bama had offered Vaughters and Rivals.com shows him with a Bama offer in his profile. Scout.com does not list him as holding a Bama offer and ESPNU says that he doesn't have a Bama written offer in their latest report on him. I am going to keep him in the prospect list as holding a Bama verbal offer and expect him to get a written offer sometime soon.LB James Vaughters from Tucker, GA. has an Alabama offer.

http://rivals.yahoo.com/alabama/football/recruiting/player-James-Vaughters-98392The first group of written scholarship offers are in for Class of 2011 ESPNU 150 Watch List linebacker James Vaughters (Tucker, Ga.), according to ESPN affiliate Web site IrishSportsDaily.com.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound defender has received mail from Notre Dame, Florida, Tennessee, Stanford and North Carolina State.
While the Tide's game with North Texas isn't considered a high profile match-up, that doesn't mean that high-profile junior prospects won't be in attendance. Check out the BOL Blog for a few of the top names expected on Saturday.
The ESPNU 150 Watch List for the Class of 2011 is filled with many of the nation's top junior football prospects. These players have been identified early as potential ESPNU 150 members and elite college prospects.
Most of these players will be receiving written scholarship offers from Division I programs Sept. 1, which is the first day programs can extend such offers. This will remain a working list, with additions and subtractions, as more prospects are uncovered during the season and throughout the spring and summer and more information is learned about the current members of the list.
TUSCALOOSA — Saturday may not have had the big-game atmosphere that would attract recruits to Tuscaloosa, but Alabama entertained several prospects from the Class of 2011 during its game against North Texas.
Linebackers A.J. Johnson of Gainesville, Ga., and Desmond Wills of Lincoln; defensive end Lamichael Fanning of Auburn; receiver Darien Thomas of Theodore; cornerback Jacquese Kirk of Walker; and athlete Anthony Gardner of Pleasant Grove were scheduled to be at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday, as was Class of 2012 quarterback Jameis Winston of Hueytown.
Here's a quick update on Kyle Kennedy (Indianapolis Cathedral High School).
Martay Mattox is a dual-threat quarterback to watch in the class of 2011. He plays for Clarke Central High School and you can see him in action against Lovejoy here on ScoutTV.
http://rivals.yahoo.com/alabama/football/recruiting/player-Jameis-Winston-102384Hueytown's Jameis Winston is the exception. That name will likely be printed in The News as much as "Chizik" and "Saban" over the next three years.
Hueytown's sophomore quarterback is 6-foot-3 and weighs 173 pounds. The verbal scholarship offers he has from Alabama and Auburn rewrite the definition of sophomoric.
Hope he don't get hung up on (and fall in love with) the spread offense. He will be a "bigun" when he finishes HS.2012 QB Jameis Winston has an Alabama verbal offer.

I need to go watch him play!Kyle Kennedy (2011), linebacker from Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, has been selected for the upcoming US Army National Combine in San Antonio.
Self is the name of the CC writer, not the QB.Anyone know anything about this QB, last-name of Self, that was just offered?
