I love Tunsil but he seems to not want competition which is what is keeping UGA in it for his services as a LT. Bama has an absolute stud there already so unless he does leave after 2013, LT may not be all that giddy over that. Cyrus is a beast though so I would think you guys would want to do whatever to talk that kid into playing through 2014
Coach Saban doesn't talk kids into staying at UA for his sake. He advises the player to do what is best for the player. If a player is projected as a first rounder, CNS advises him to go. If CNS did whatever to talk kids into staying, Mark Ingram, Rolando McClain, Julio Jones, Trent Richardson and Dre Kirckpatrick wouldn't have left early.

Seems like we are in his top 2 now with UGA. Supposing UA loses at least 3 (possibly 4) lineman next year, we need a big class on the OL this year. We'll lose BJ, CW, DJF, and possibly Steen. Our other lineman are still pretty young so its not out of the possibility that a talented OL come in and earn a starting spot. Hope we land him.
No disrespect to your thoughts, but I REALLY would rather not see a freshman LT start, no matter how talented he is. That not really a position to learn on the fly.

Dont we have others linemen on the roster who've been with the program behind the starters, o ris the cupboard that bare on the offensive line.

I agree with your thought about freshmen LT's. Andre Smith did it quite well but he was the exception and not he rule. I think Cyrus could have done it last year but not as well as Barrett. The way Saban recruits LT's it could and can happen but you have also seen him go JUCO for LT's when he feels someone on the roster is not ready.

Hopefully, but maybe not. Cyrus will probably be the only guy on the roster next year with the length and athleticism that you need to play left tackle at a high level. If he went down, we would have some problems.

The right side is trickier without Fluker. Arie Kouandjio could probably do it reasonably well if he can stay healthy, but no one knows if he can do that. The other guys we have played there, like Austin Shephard and Kellen Williams, I really don't know if any of those guys are really athletic enough to get the job done. I don't think any of them would be a Chris Capps repeat, but I do think they would have issues against good pass rushers, which you see a lot of in this league.

It's pretty thin, admittedly. Outside of the Kouandjio brothers, I'm not sure we have much. Hopefully Brandon Greene can have a strong year and contribute next season, but guys like Leon Brown and Tunsil could legitimately get playing time immediately.

How do these two compare to Cyrus and Fluker?
Tunsil is very similar to Cyrus. Perhaps not quite as quick or as long of arms, but very close.

Brown is the unknown. He has the frame needed and good reach, but no one really knows exactly where he is at right now in terms of weight. Getting him in as an early enrolle will be crucial.

What's the latest on Tunsil? :cool2:
henry working on him

uga/bama still 1 and 2 (probably that order) but gators pressing hard. he's in gainesville tomorrow with Montravius Adams, Marcell Harris, and Marquez North for the LSU game along with almost all of UF's 20 commits

sorry, forgot i wasn't supposed to be objective

NoNC4Tubs my insiders tell me the % is

Tide 96%, UGA 2%, UF 1%, Arena Ball 1%

;)
It may have more to do with a direct quote from Tunsil, which maybe is only an opinion. Not sure anymore how it all works.:cool2:

Per Rivals:

Tunsil has Florida State No. 3 on his list followed by Florida. He will visit Gainesville this weekend. Tunsil is not expected to schedule his official visits until after the season. He will not make a decision until signing day.

That would make FSU ahead of UF. He also has UA and UGA even per Tunsil today.

dude was a no-show for his "unofficial" but expected visit to FSU vs Clemson. not worried about the Seminoles ... just two weeks ago he said he doesn't like FSU's program and hadnt been contacted by them in a long time but when they called recently he shot them up the chart.

it's b/w us and uga...i give uf an outside shot as Taylor is recruiting him hard like Henry is doing

"Right now, I have a top two. I have Georgia and Alabama," Tunsil said in the interview

The difference is the relationship with henry. Keep trying though. Also, if you are quoting an article it needs to be posted and be free. Please don't get tidefans.com in trouble for copyright laws.

yeah tidefans.com better watch out for c/p of a quote told to rivals for free and used by mr sec, sbn, and others about a thousand times. an insider like you should have been all over it

btw, the rest of the quote states the diff b/w alabama (power running) vs georgia (finesse pulling OT) that he's pondering and how UF will remain a contender due to proximity to his home.

but you know all this. i'm just a little fella in PA trying to keep up with the big guns around here

Anyone who posts on a message board should read up on "fair use" and be clear on what is considered acceptable by law. Just because an article is "free" does not necessarily mean that you should copy or paraphrase the article onto a message board. While you may consider it "free", revenue is generated by the clicks on their website. Taking the work of an author and reproducing it without consent is a no no is many situations, but especially when the work represents their ability to make a living. While taking a single quote from an article might not represent a violation of fair use, I would think it is always good to err on the side of caution. Especially when you consider that a message board is someone else's creation that they have graciously allowed you to use, and they are the ones held responsible for copyright infringement.

Safe bet to quote small portions and provide a link to the article.

That is usually the rule of thumb on boards like this. As long as credit is given and not huge amounts are being copied most sites are content.
