Milroe appears to be very a enthusiastic competitor and supportive teammate, but his passing is too erratic.

Many of his throws remind me of Freddie Kitchens.
Yeah I have to believe there is a role for him on this team but I think Simpson is the guy. I will say I was very impressed with Dylan (too lazy look up his last name) he was not on my radar at all and he looked really good.

My initial reaction bullet points. A typical A-day game. Very vanilla as expected. You can't predict a season based on A-day. But......
1. QB's showed little if any improvement. Lonergan was most impressive considering he's a FR. Hard to tell if Simpson has improved since we've seen so little of him. Simpson would be best for this team at this time imo.
2. Dropped balls are STILL a concern even if CNS said they haven't dropped many this spring. Game time is what counts. Receivers didn't show any improvement. I didn't think Benson was playing until the last drive.
3. Defense looked good overall. DB's were most impressive of the group. #59 on the dline made some good plays. #39 on defense too. Little made a great int. Never heard of Pope but he made some plays.
4. TE play will be improved long as drops are addressed.
5. At least three Freshman will be starters. Haynes, Downs, Procter

And not a single comment about LB play today by anyone. Not one. Which to me is not good. At best, it sounds like "meh".

I think Simpson showed that he’s a superior passer (albeit with a lot a needed improvement) and a good enough scrambler to take the lead in the race to be the starter over Milroe.

But I’m still not comfortable with the QB situation.

I‘ll know more after I have a chance to talk to Coach.

I listened to the radio broadcast with Chris Stewart, J.P. Wilson and Christian Miller doing the sideline reporting.

I was real impressed with Christian Miller’s comments and insight. Really polished and very sharp.
Christian Miller as in former player Christian Miller? If so, cool. Always like seeing guys return back to the program in some way.

Well what I got out of the game was this:

All the QBs had some good plays and some bad plays. Lonergan really impressed me. Between Milroe and Simpson, I’d take Simpson simply because from my untrained eye he was a better decision maker and better with the football. His one pick was honestly an amazing and athletic play by Little. Milroe had some great throws but also looked to make poor decisions under

DBs looked pretty good. Lots of picks, lots on knockdowns, and physical play.

Haynes is going to be a great contributor on offense, though curious how his blocking is.

My total layman eye couldn’t pick up on if the o line or d line looks good.

And now we get to wait for August practice…
