Barely old enough to see the end of the Ali era. Holmes was the big champ for most of my youth but he had zero charisma and was in Ali’s shadow. The lighter weights were the place to be through much of the 1980s.

Then Tyson came along and was everywhere. His collapse seemed inevitable once the sharks got control of him. The heavyweights remained relevant a bit after that but eventually faded away. I did attend Wilder’s first defense in Birmingham in 2015 just to say I had been to a heavyweight championship fight.

Boxing overall has declined for a number of reasons that would be fit for discussion elsewhere. Another sport you don’t hear as much about as you once did is horse racing.

Just saw it.

Tombstone was my Dad’s favorite movie and in large part because of Kilmer’s Doc.

It’s always been one of my favorites too and the OG Top Gun.

RIP
deserved an Oscar for his role in Tombstone. It is criminal that he didn't. He also deserved one for The Doors. He became Jim Morrison.
