Maybe people think Adams is good because when he did play, he actually caught the ball. His returns aren't great because 90% of the time, it was a fair catch. Our punt coverage was average st best. My opinion of Adams is merely a gut feeling based on what little I have seen. I think he will do well at a place that will actually use him to the best of his abilities.

Yeah the reason he was the PR guy was because he was the only one trustworthy enough to field the punt.

His reputation is a guy who has good hands.

So when one of our largest issues this year was drops then it feels like a wasted opportunity to not give this kid extra reps at WR.

He’s probably not going to be a WR1 or WR2 for another team but he could be WR3 or WR4 option from the slot when it’s 3rd and 5 and you are throwing to move the chains.

Nevertheless I wish the kid well wherever he lands.

Adams should have definitely been in the slot, especially on 3rd downs. But we never ran those short crossers or slants where his hands would have been valuable.

Williams on the other hand....should not be in the slot.

Yeah... I am hoping we have a ton of people ready to sign who we are keeping quiet on. The exodus at OL and WR have to be fixed and I've heard we will lose several on defense through today.

So far, we have lost two guys in Keeley and Formsby, if we can replace the others with better / older guys then I think we are doing well overall. Not sure why Keeley is leaving on the verge of starting for us next year... And if Formsby has delusions he is an SEC level tackle and not a middle of the road guard, good luck with that.

Still though, we need to hammer our portal additions home. I think solely depending on our younger dudes is not smart given that we will be out matched by more well developed senior laden teams potentially.

Keeley’s leaving because in all likelihood someone made him an offer that he couldn’t refuse and/ or that Alabama couldn’t/ wouldn’t match.

Cignetti is an outlier. He was Saban's Recruiting Coordinator for five years, so obviously he is very experienced at building a roster.

I never understood why they didn't use Adams for tough yardage, third down attempts where you need a sure-handed guy to make the catch in traffic - a la Joey Jones (for us old guys).

I hope he has success wherever he lands.

The absolute worst thing DeBoer can do is not make a change at OL coach. His offseason is already going to be filled with outside questions and pressure, if he keeps the OL coach he wont ne able to ho to bathroom in peace there will be such an uproar.

Yeah, I don't see how changing OL coaches would be all that disruptive, especially as badly as the line has played and how poor the coaching has been.

Quite honestly, aside from $ and the exposure that comes from playing at Bama (which is probably taking some hits anymore) I would think the current OL coach would be a detriment to recruiting at both the high school and transfer level.

if I were Ty, the NFL is my ticket. it's not a great QB class. GM will take a chance on him esp. if he does a solid performance at the combine. they have enough film on him and know his strength and weaknesses. with a good OL and capable running game depending what team takes him, he will thrive.

I'm not sure from an injury standpoint if he would be able to participate in the combine.

I don’t think it matters. There is enough film and he could basically do a workout for interested teams. Yeah you generally want to go to the combine but we are increasingly going to an era where pro days and individual workouts amongst the top talents are just as good.

But I have doubts he comes back. TTU is offering Russell stupid money to transfer. I think if Ty gets a day 1 or 2 grade then he is out of Tuscaloosa or strongly encouraged to leave.

Yep. I saw him as a better version of Slade Bolden, but it just never materialized.

Looks like TTU just got a commitment yesterday from Brendan Sorsby, the QB from Cincinnati. He picked TTU over LSU. I know TTU is throwing money all over the place to be an "instant player".

Texas Tech went all in on Defense last year and it helped tremendously. They see now that they need something at QB.

Strategy for most, I assume going forward.........get a QB, get a bunch of OL and DL and sprinkle in the rest.

Cignetti was Recruiting Coordinator for Bama under Saban, 2007-2010. Remember the talent he helped bring to T-town?

I think he knows how to evaluate talent and get the guys he needs to fill the gaps on his roster.

Which is why Indiana and him will flourish in the new landscape. They may be the new Big 10 king before it is all said and done.

In a lot of cases a kid enters the Portal just to leverage a pay raise...

Get used to most kids entering the Portal EVERY year solely to get leverage for a pay raise AND to have the flexibility to go where they can get a better deal and/or more playing time.

As I understand it, there is no deadline on when you can transfer, just that you have to be in the Portal by a certain date or you miss it until next year. A kid can stay in the Portal as long as he likes.

This insanity will continue until there is a CBA put into place.
