I know lot of people are impressed with Ty not going to another school and saying that shows his character. Which I think he has a lot of but it not like he decided not to take the money over going to work at McDonald’s. He is going to most likely be a mid 1st round pick in the draft. That is going to make him a lot of money. For example Bo Nix went 12th overall. He got a 10 million dollar signing bonus with his contract being 18.5 million guaranteed for 4 years. Ty most likely gets around 15 million guaranteed if not more if someone takes him earlier to go to NFL. It also gets him to that 5th year option year faster and if he plays well an extra year making some real money that 5th year or contract extension faster.
Jets needs a QB. They pick #2

An interesting comment from this article Commission rejected 500-plus NIL deals worth nearly $15 million.

"The memo reminded ADs that signing players to deals that hadn't been cleared by the CSC left the players "vulnerable to deals not being cleared, promises not being able to be kept, and eligibility being placed at risk."

Comments that criticized the staff for not getting a signed contract with Smothers before he bolted to Texas might need to consider that it takes time to get these deals reviewed and approved...😎
But see that's part of the strategy. Make someone else the bad guy. Offer a contract knowing full well it won't get approved. Once not approved you rescind the payments but let the player know he is still in scholarship and not to worry about his education or living arrangements. Blame it on the Commission...

Yeah, I don't see it as a sign of character. I see as sign that Ty loves Bama and really cares about his legacy here. He didn't wanna be the guy who transferred away.

Well, it’s fitting since he’s been playing since Old Testament times. Add further that Incarnate Word is his SEVENTH school.
Here’s a kid that the NCAA via the transfer portal has absolutely failed. I’d almost wager he’s no closer to a useable degree than he was when he was at LSU. Because he’s jumped around so much he’s likely squandered an education. He’s obviously not playing football for a living. So what’s his life going to be going forward. I’m sure the NIL funds at Incarnate Word is non-existent.
