2027 Recruiting: 2027 Recruiting Thread

5* S Honor Fa’alave-Johnson was visited by Bama and has us in top 10. Cali kid and we have done really well there. He can fly.

Junior Day is this weekend and 5* QB Elijah Haven and 5* WR Monshun Sales. We are the leader for Haven and this article says it appears we will get his commitment next month. Sales grew up in Alabama and is a Bama fan living in Indianapolis. This would be an incredible double header if we were to get both.

Those two would be HUGE for '27.

Think about this: For all the complaints about CKD's first two seasons (some legit), you can hardly tell a difference in his ability to recruit when compared to his predecessor.

In addition, we know that every great football team in the modern era always has several elite positions and the top of those is QBs and WRs, which it seems CKD has an eye to recruit and develop.

If/when we get the issues with the OL and RBs fixed/improved, we are setting ourselves us for continued success!

We made a good impression on the #1 CB and top 10 overall player at Junior Day.

Used to be that news like this would be exciting, but we all know its going to come down to $$$ in the end...

Bama also made a good impression on 5* WR Monshun Sales who is originally from Alabama and grew up a Bama fan. I believe SJC said his nickname on his HS team is Bama.

Here is another quote from Sales. Ensley is in Birmingham.

“The visit was amazing,” Sales said. “Definitely felt different being back home as a top recruit. This is everything I dreamed of when I was playing little league ball back in Ensley [Alabama]. The biggest takeaways were how they’re focusing on developing the wide receivers and making sure it’s a priority to get the playmakers the ball.”

As others have hinted, pre-NIL, he would be an absolute lock for Bama. But this will come down to if we can stay competitive with our NIL offer.

Word is Bama is not as "poor" as some think in the NIL department, but that we are being much, much selective on how we spend it. At some point, however, we need to sign some of these impact players and if it takes matching some of the big schools, do it! There is reason QBs, WRs and LTs get paid more in the NFL.

I also have heard the staff really wants to nail down the starter this spring. I know it'll be a fair competition, but I really think Bama NEEDS Keelon Russel to win the starting position because I think the recruits will see that as another reason to commit.

FWIW, I have nothing against Mack, but he doesn't have the buzz as KR. KR is our next GREAT QB in the realm of Tua/Bryce/MJ if the recruiting scuttlebutt is close to correct.
