Running from Oklahoma, not going to coach LSU...

Anyone else think he doesn't want to compete in the SEC?
He is 04 in playoff against Clemson, Georgia, Alabama and LSU. Hmmm. Don't blame him for running.

Joe Castiglione: (on phone, calling Greg Sankey) "Uh, yeah, Greg hey how is everything? Yes, yes, Happy Thanksgiving to you all as well. Yes well, yeah the turkey was good. Listen, about that invitation to join the SEC..."

Only rumor at this point but the leading name in Norman by all accounts is Venables and given I think he’d be a total disaster as head coach, I hope it’s true.

(I won’t share the rumor part because of the site rules buthe appears several places to be the heavy favorite).

No idea how he would do as a HC but I'd enjoy the impact that would have on Dabo and Clemson

Rattler in the portal!
Way he played and lived up to his billing this year, easy to predict a transfer and NIL deal with FAMU rolled into one...already have the Rattlers and Lady Rattlers, he will be the third category, "Miscast Heisman favorite Rattlers..."

Former Sooner and Dallas Cowboy running back Demarco Murray, and some current players are saying that Lincoln Riley looked them right in the eye and lied to them. Sources are saying that USC talked to Riley as early as Sept. 18 about their job opening up. A lot of people close to the Sooner program are really curious if Riley was out recruiting for USC for at least a week while still on the OU payroll.
With Stoops being here, the program can take a little longer to make the hire they want, Bob is out recruiting tonight.
The names most being tossed around here in the OKC area are Venables, Lane Kiffin, Mark Stoops, and Fickle at Cincinnati came up within the last few hours. There are lots more important things in life than Sooner football, but Riley apparently lied to a lot of people here.

The problem is this - it doesn't matter how good of a temp coach Stoops is, if he's not going to be the guy, some seriously talented dudes are going to be unwilling to sign on with OU. And early signing starts in about two weeks.

Ii's weird - had Riley intended to inflict as much damage as possible I don't know that he could have picked a 'better' time to leave.

Not saying OU won't be fine, but between losing some commits and current players (some of which appear to be following Riley) and the early signing date looming, I suspect this will reverberate for a couple of seasons - even if it's just lacking some really talented depth at a few positions.
