Does anyone know if he is coming back to the team, or is this another Glen Miles and Akini Adkins thing? He hasn't played much so I am just curious if he is unhappy at Bama.

Coach is being extremely lenient with Weber's absence...this being the most crucial month of the season. Whatever it is, I hope Weber can overcome it and move forward with Bama. And I really, really hope we don't find out later it was about playing time.

If this absence is about playing time and not a serious family or personal situation, I wouldn't want him back on the team if I were Coach Gottfried.

I hope this situation is successfully resolved soon.

interview about weber before Arkansas game?

There was a clearly "inside" person being interviewed on the radio before the Arkansas game, who stated that fans need to give Weber a break, and that he knew firsthand that Weber's absence was for serious family reasons which may never be made public, and that fans need to give Weber a break. I heard the entire interview with this guy, and he made other statements on other subjects about UA that supported him being an insider...

I have heard stuff...

that is reliable that I can't put on a public board. This individual, whoever he is, needs to say not one word more, if he is a true UA fan and a friend to the family. There is more than one reason for the absence. It was not rocket science to perceive from yesterday afternoon that a new Weber-less rotation is being designed, with Brock, Felix and Jonus being the #6,7&8 - not necessarily in that order. And they did pretty damn well at it. Weber is a true #2 and asking him to come in at PG was rough for him and it showed. ES as a true #2 and KW, who will probably be a #2 at the next level, actually did a better job of moving over. Jonus' "D" (mostly zone) improved greatly, and that's what's been keeping him off the court. Brock and Felix played under control. We're getting there...

If he's a true #2, why can't he see what an ideal situation this is for him? Shelton is a fixture there this year, but next year, Shelton will be gone. Weber could move in, and could combine with Steele to be a tremendous backcourt for years. Is playing time during the freshman year that important? I would think he could learn a lot from Shelton this year.

These kids don't want to play here for years. They want to display their talents and get drafted in the NBA. What alot of them don't realize is that there are only 32 guaranteed contracts drafted each year........thats the part that frustrates me.......but...........t'is life in college basketball now

But even if that's the case; even if all Weber wants is to get playing time so that the NBA scouts will see him, how can he do better than Bama right now? I mean, this year is a wash if he leaves. He can't possibly get on another team and play this year. The earliest this could happen would be next year, and then, he'll almost certainly be a fixture in our lineup at the 2 spot.

I know I'm preaching to the choir, but man, losing all of these players is really starting to get to me. Miles, Adkins, and now maybe Weber? We'll really be up against it next year.

Next year best case scenario

PG - Steele
SG - Winston
SF - Felix
PF - Davis
C - Davidson
6th - Hendrix
7th - Brock
8th - Jonus
9th - George
10th- Gee

Worst Case Scenario

PG - Steele
SG - George/Gee
SF - Felix
PF - Davis
C - Davidson
6th - Brock
7th - Jonus
8th - George/Gee
9th - Shawn Taylor

What exactly will we be up against? I see us pretty solid next year regardless of if Kennedy/Hendrix are in Crimson and White or not.........better with them of course.

What about his classes??

I dont know of any students (we know Gottfried demands !00% effort in the classroom) that can "take a leave of absence" for a couple of weeks from school and still pass. I wish Albert well in whatever is going on with him and his family.

I admit, I felt better after watching Felix yesterday, and it looks like George/Gee should be able to fill the 2 spot pretty well. I just hate to lose a pure shooter like Weber. I hope things work out for him (and of course for us).

I'm not going...

to take the time to look up his stats (unless he comes back, of course), but I don't remember being impressed with his %...

I agree. The man gave his first name, but I don't remember it, and sounded very credible, and seemed to be someone the radio folks knew very well. I was very uncomfortable with the depth of information that he was airing out...Hopefully he was chastised a bit for being so "public"...

Anyway...I wish Mr. Weber the best...whatever he ends up doing....

some awful mistakes when I was his age. I managed to survive them. I hope he does also...

Me too. As fans it's not our job to speculate about what is the source of problems just to hope he can get things straightened out and return as soon as possible. God Bless you Al, we're pulling for you.

The point is...

he ain't here. He ain't going to be playing so we must move on. I think CMG has found the mix, and I look forward to one exciting month of Crimson basketball!

Al

Hey guys, I know I've been missing for a while so I've been out of the loop.

I hate to see Albert gone right now and hope everything works out well with the young man. I doubt very seriously playing time or the bench has anything to do with his absence. He played well I thought and was doing a fine job coming off the bench for Steele and Shelton. I heard alot of flack on the radio about his ball handling, but I feel he handles the ball better than Steele. He just wasn't comfortable playing point and he didn't play point in HS. The guy can flat out shoot the ball though, and I feel he can be a better scorer than Shelton in the long run.

Don't over-look George. Word is...he is the real deal, and possibly could go pro himself. Gee can play the two, but I think he makes a better 3.

Yet, I hope Al comes back to school or atleast clears the air about what's going on. I can't help but think about Brooks Daniels as this thing goes along.
