2025 Roster Rundown: Running Backs
by Jess Nicholas, TideFans.com Editor-In-Chief

Our 2025 Alabama team preview continues today with a look at the running back group.

As we stated previously in our Quarterbacks preview that kicked off this series, in recent years, we’ve waited until fall camp began to take a look at the upcoming team, giving the coaches every possible second to finalize a pre-camp roster. This has led to content droughts, however, so we’ve chosen to break up the 2025 Alabama team preview into eight segments, following our traditional eight-category game previews.

Give me more Hill and Riley!!!

I know Jam had a lot of weaknesses around him last year, but I'm ready to see more talented backs break out. Sounds like Hill and Riley could be some thunder and lightning!

I'm also rooting for Young to have a good season too.

Interesting group of backs this year in that the star power seems absent but intriguing upside for a lot of those guys in the middle of the pack. Gonna be interesting to see how often we line it up and smash mouth with this regime vs heavy blocking and using our runners as receivers.

Depending on our OL's play....
Of course...but also tied to the QB's success or lack thereof.

We'll never know the full story from last year. But alot of breakdowns occurred from the top (QB) with his shortcoming in the one-read passing game. And if he couldn't read the defense how does he call audibles and adjust blocking schemes???

I always felt like Jam had a little more juice than Jace and Roydell but he hasn't really shown that since he became the starter. I think a lot of that had to do with the OL and Milroe running it so often, as others have already mentioned.

I didn't think D. Hill would ever be a factor but I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do.

Unsure what R. Young or the transfer Washington will bring to the table.

I'm hoping we see a lot more of Kevin Riley this year. He's the only one of the RB's that has the speed and quickness to take it the house on any given moment.

Which is why I think he and Hill will make a good duo.

Some talent there but no superstars. Of course, it all depends on the OL. If they block well, the RBs will do well. If they don't block well, the RBs will struggle.
