Good thing this thread wasn't closed since there will obviously be more heated discussions coming after today's game. :conf2:

As previously noted, I wish Saban would let the offensive coordinator run the offense. I'm pretty sure it wasn't Locksley's idea to bring in another qb when we were in a great rhythm in the first half.
"Well, they talk about it being a problem," Stallings said. "Let me tell you what a problem is: When you have two quarterbacks and neither one of them is good enough to win. That's a problem."
I'm with you there............I don't know what is going on with the whole Tua/Jalen swapping, but if Tua is in the zone, leave him be and let him light up the scoreboard
I'd say today's game answers part of that question. Hurts had a great game, and while it wasn't against the best competition, he still had to make the throws. This is a reminder what the struggles we've seen are not necessarily the best he can do. Also, he helps keep Tua healthy.Don’t understand why a two year, starting QB needs reps.

People often forget a few very pertinent facts.
A: Hurts it younger than Tua.
B: Hurts is the youngest starting QB Saban has had, probably the youngest starting QB in Alabama history (if not it would be a virtual tie). This negates some of the "two year starter" stuff.
C: Hurts never had a QB coach.
Some people look at it like, he's played, he's learn all there is to learn. That's an absurdity though. Tua is a wonder, but most quarterbacks take years to develop, and the truth is we simply don't know where Hurts is in his progress. He had a trial by fire, and music chairs with coordinators. Two year starter sounds well and good, but it could very well be redshirt freshman to.
So, to answer the question more succinctly, the reason to play him is because we might not have seen the best of what he can do yet. I can't think of what he's done to forfeit to the right to see the field. I mean Mac is the one that got the DUI, what did Hurts do wrong? He's only being inserted once the game is well in hand...

Looks like Saban is slowly working a way to name Jalen as starter again.

Negative. He's just trying to keep him engaged and sharp. Though I would argue that the timing of when to play him is weird.

Isn’t it also weird he said “Tua will start this game†but never said “Tua is the starter going forward
First, let's let this sink in a bit. Tua, who has looked incredibly polished, has a rating each game of 235 and 238, needs reps? C'mon, any jitters or what not he might have had are out the window. He's been getting first team reps in practice, he's the one who is playing when the game is still close, and he's also been inserted in some situations like at the end of half. That's not random, Saban wants Tua to get the meaningful snaps.Jalen, being a 2 year starter, probably doesn't need the reps to be a backup that Tua, a 2 game starter, needs to as the starter to prepare for upcoming games.
Or maybe you are implying that you still think Jalen Hurts might be the better qb if he gets enough reps. Is that what you think?
