If REC members are invited, we usually get some reports from them. But seems like I remember one rogue tweeter getting in trouble about it too.

But its about the only way we'll get any solid info about today.

I'll throw out this tidbit - Tua is outdoing Jalen in practice. Is that a surprise? :D

Not surprising.

I think the only thing that could sway the momentum back to Jalen is if Tua just tries to do too much and throws INTs during the scrimmages. There's no question who has the most talent.

OR, if Jalen decides to press and throws INTs, Tua has to do very little different than what he did in his playing time last year.

Will Lowery, who watched today's scrimmage, predicts Tua as starter. Says "and it isn't close."

From a guy that was at the scrimmage. Not sure where to post this, but since most folks are interested in the qb position, I'll post it here....

Hey folks,

Ok I’ll make it brief.

QBs- Tua is really good, and it’s not really that close at this point. I don’t want to talk bad about Jalen but he had 3 picks and if it was a prize it would have been stopped early Tua had 4 touchdowns a great run, a sack juke miss type thing, it was borderline unbelievable. I’m not sure how Desean Watson or Cam looked when they were this age but we may have something brewing in the Legend category. I’ll go on record now and say All 1 team reps should be shifted to Tua and he should start again LV game 1.

OL- looked pretty good actually, I didn’t see a glaring issue

DL- solid crew here, buggs, Kwon, Jennings Williams etc all look good

ILB- same solid starting two, depth may be an issue

Secondary- can tell they are a little raw but they are a scrappy bunch and great speed. I feel fine here

WR- Top are 5 are outstanding as you already knew, Juedy, Ruggs, Smith are elite

TE- didn’t see any real issues here, seem pretty steady

Kicker/Punter- Delong isn’t JK but he kicks the ball well and is consistent

Bul looked pretty good

I thought Jalen would figure he needed to press, and sounds like he did. He probably survived the first two years by not trying to make tight throws, but now he can't do that with Tua throwing darts in keyholes (to borrow Daboll's description of Tua last year).

Yep I saw on twitter earlier that Tua was slinging TD's and Jalen INT's but I wasn't 100% on how credible the source was really so didn't pass it along.

Sounds like Tua is locked in and focused on doing all the on and off the field things correctly right now.

It also sounds like (unfortunately) Jalen is kind of unraveling under the pressure. First with the comments last week and now today sounds like he was uncharacteristically reckless with the football trying to play 'catch-up' to Tua.

As a fan I'm torn. I really love both guys and I'm not actively rooting for Jalen to in any way fail.

But the quicker a clear and distant separation between the two is assessed then the #1 reps need to go to 'The Guy".

It seems as most of us thought that is Tua by a landslide..... hopefully the internal decision is made soon so the team can move forward.

I've been trying to give Jalen the benefit of the doubt but man it's looking like he's picking up where he left off in the spring game. It doesn't seem like he's performing well under internal pressure (QB Comp/Beating Tua out).

Happy to hear about Tua though, hopefully he continues to improve because his potential is just scary to even think about.

I hate it for Jalen, but I think he's almost at the point that he can't improve because it's gotten in his head. Kinda like the kickers maybe? Just my thought. He got us to the last 2 NC games. I've never thought he was NFL material myself, but I know folks CAN improve. I think he's a fine young man, and hope he stays to graduate and maybe he can move on somewhere where he can play well again. I wish him all the best at everything.

I would note that my posts above are strictly cut and paste from another board, and since I don't even personally know the guy, I can't vouch for anything either. All the info from different sources seem to be about the same though.

I received a few texts from a friend that was attending the scrimmage. Pretty much parroted what others have said this afternoon.
