If Tua doesn’t start him and his brother deserve to transfer.
His brother is still in high school so no transfer would be necessary for him.

Regardless of who starts does coach sit them down together and tell them or separately?
I feel much the same way. I did think that with coaching Jalen would improve dramatically but all of the QBs have improved as well and Tua has a significantly higher ceiling when it comes to throwing the football.I've been as big a Hurts supporter as anyone here. I knew all along his game had deficiencies (though I held out hope that he could improve), but I do think it became easy to overlook the things he did well, and the valuable contributions he did make. Anyway, having said that...
I simply can not fathom Hurts actually being the starter at this point. Even when I was steadfastly defending Hurts, I understand there were certain things Tua did better. I hoped Hurts would develop more, but there was always an aspect of this that lead me to believe that if Tua did catch him and prove himself, I wasn't sure how Hurts could move back ahead. Things went off the rails for Hurts and the end last year, his performance against Georgia was arguably his worst, his last A-Day was arguably his worst, I'm not seeing everything but I haven't yet seen the Hurts that there would need to be in order to catch up with Tua.
So, what do I make of the suggestion that Hurts might in fact get the nod? I still can't believe it is more than lip service. If he's trying to keep Hurts engaged, trying to help him save face, doing a AJ vs. Phillip Sims thing might be what it takes. Remember, even in that QB battle there was a sense that the job was AJ's but Saban was letting it play out that way to let Phillip be more engaged.
TLDR: I can see Hurts starting the game out of respect to everything he's done, I can't however see him being named the starter.
Playing devil's advocate...
For whatever you think of Jalen's deficiencies and for however many times anyone screams that 26-2 is a team accomplishment (when is it not?!) the fact remains that Jalen has been a steady cool-headed hand and his play did not prevent Alabama from getting to the past two national championship games. So what you want, it's still true.
I have my opinion on the matter but I (thankfully) am not in position to make the decision. And though I may not agree when/if the decision is made I will cheer for Jalen and the team to play better than they've ever played before and to have nothing but success and just the same if Tua trots out to start the game. And if the backup gets in I'll cheer for them and the team just like I did the starter.
The man making the decision has 6 national championships to his name. 6. Not 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5, but 6. 5 in the past 9 years. Just missed 3 in a row twice during that time thanks to last second heroics by the other teams, once in the championship game itself. And lost in the semi-final yet another year. The man knows what he is doing. I may not agree with every decision he makes but his acumen is proven time after time. Is he human and therefore fallible? Yes. Have I and will I question his decisions? Yes. But he has earned my respect and deserves a fair amount of deference.
What will matter more than who starts the first game is who will win the job and how? What matters more is that we are Alabama Crimson Tide fans. We are fans of the school, the players, and the coaches. After all the hard work they put in they deserve our respect. Everything will work out just fine.
Part of the situation is that Tua has literally thrown tens of thousands more passes than Jalen has. Their backgrounds and early training were entirely different, from what I've read. They both dominated in HS playing entirely different styles. There's a reason Jalen's dad wanted him to come to Bama to become an NFL QB. The problem was it was too late...I feel much the same way. In a side by side with any of the QBs it just appears to me that JH doesn't have the "arm talent" to be successful as a passer.
It almost certain that CNS has seen enough as to who should be the starting QB and surely if it was important for JH to get more reps it is important for Tua to have the same opportunity for games down the road.
CNS is likely engaged in keeping both QB's on the roster for the good of the team which may or may not be the best for JH depending on what his career goals may be at this point. One other thing is abundantly clear to CNS as well. Players will transfer if they do not see an opportunity to build their NFL resume.
I do believe that Saban has had enough bad experiences with teams who throw the ball well spread the field to go into the game being ambivalent about his offensive plan. One thing for certain Bama will need to score some points to beat a Patrino team. The offense has to be ready to play and put their considerable weapons to work and not dabble around with QB play!
I said it a month or so ago - I suspect Hurts will start against UL. Still believe it.
No one is going to transfer because of who started. Barnett started too...
I believe that to be an absolutely true statement.Part of the situation is that Tua has literally thrown tens of thousands more passes than Jalen has. I agree with what you said. I am just concerned that Tua may transfer, we will not get his brother, and some wide receivers currently on the team and ones being recruited will not want to stay at BAMA.
