I mean, are people literally arguing that Milroe is a complete, finished QB now? He's at his ceiling?

If not, I don't understand what the debate is about - he's an incredible athlete and a very good QB with room for improvement.

Seems like we've had multiple pages now about this - it's not difficult. He's a QB with immense talent that still needs improvement. How hard is that to comprehend?

They're bored. Nothing to do but to argue. His biggest improvement will come in offseason. I know he has a QB coach lined up to work with him on his touch, reading the fields better. He also need to work on ball security. Fix that, and he's 1st round pick next year.

The debate is that one particular poster is trying to suggest that Milroe is the greatest quarterback to have ever played or will play at Alabama , offering nothing when asked why the feel that way,and is taking kind of a smack talk kind of response towards anyone that disagrees slightly about it.

He got what he intended and it was multiple pages of people arguing and joining in on the debate.

I know, but if you just ignore the comments not based in reality, they lose interest in fade. You're not going to convince someone who is emotionally involved in believing Milroe is the best Bama QB of the last decade, so why waste the time?

We have a few guys who have been in the program a year or two that should be capable of stepping up. Jake Pope got some mop-up duty at safety this year. Ricks will be a good one before it's over. Experience in Saban's secondary is so important...unless you are Caleb Downs.

Needs to work on processing what he sees. That’s the biggest thing I see with Jalen. He has gotten much better, but hesitation still leads to funky looking plays, heroic athletic moves and big hits. He has enough experience now to go back and watch film and learn from his mistakes, but that will take work in the summer.
I wonder if the center /QB exchange was more consistent, well more consistently accurate if that would speed up JM‘s play. When Jalen plays fast, he is a force.
Going into the off-season as the starter will be huge for his confidence and growth.

Yeah, I’m still intrigued by the Hubbard kid. He was a great athlete in HS, Mr Football in Mississippi if I remember correctly. I wondered why they didn’t give him a look at WR.

Where ever there's BBQ, Bourbon & Football
Projecting him as a top-15 pick in next year's draft?

Seems like an incredibly premature projection.
Assuming (which is dangerous I know) JM will not regress and continue an upward trajectory in his development next season, he will more than definitely be a top 15 pick in the NFL.

I still primarily blame the worst day of snapping I've ever seen for the Texas loss. With the snapped ball coming at him from all directions, blitzers in his face all day and the coaches not yet having decided to tailor the offense just for him, Milroe was in a near impossible situation.

So yeah, I'm with you. Who knows what he could do if the exchange from center was reliable?

I would have phrased it differently if we could swear on this board, regardless, I don't like your assessment. Hope you continue to doubt him.
What part of my assessment do you feel is incorrect? I’ve offered specific areas in which I feel he’s lacking and are clearly visible on game footage, want me to tell you what I think he does well? The leadership he has over this team, he’s tough, and he throws the deep ball well. He has those parts of the “it” factor. Those qualities are simply something that cannot be taught.

Extra credit: I’ll give you two adjustments that I think he could make to improve: one physical, one mental:

He needs to hold the ball higher. His arm is relaxed and the tip of the ball is somewhere around the middle of the four. This makes his release longer, which isn’t bad on the deep ball, but it leads to his midrange passes being behind. Bring the tip of the ball up to the top of the four and his throwing motion would be faster and more compact.

Throw or go: be more decisive. If he’s a two read quarterback he needs to make those two reads and then take off if he doesn’t like what he sees. Watch the touchdown to Jam Miller, he’s wide open and Milroe almost double clutches the throw and the defender almost got there. Make the decision and execute.

What part of the assessment is wrong?

Haven't read all the comments in this thread but can pretty much asses the gist of it from just the last page lol!! Jalen has a long way to go before he is a polished pro leading a team to the Super Bowl!!! Another year of development at Bama playing will be more beneficial than riding the bench in the pro's!! ;)

It is so difficult to correct a long throwing motion at his age. Look at Tebow, a complete physical specimen out of competive football.

What if we approach it from a more topical standpoint:
Out of 10 (with 10 being excellent), where do we think JM is right now in his development:

PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES (body, speed) - 9/10
LEADERSHIP - 9/10
CHARISMA - 10/10
RUNNING ON CALLED RUN PLAYS - 8/10
DEEP BALL - 7/10 (still throws into coverage too much)
ARM STRENGTH - 7/10 (will improve with mechanics/footwork)
THROWING MECHANICS - 4/10
POCKET FOOTWORK - 5/10
FIELD VISION POST SNAP - 3/10 (his biggest weakness)
PRESNAP READS - 3/10 (hard to nail down without knowing his checkdown privileges)
TOUCH/SHORT PASSES - 5/10
INTERMEDIATE PASSES - 6/10 - but much improved
POCKET AWARENESS/DECISION TO RUN/PASS - 4/10

Feel free to add categories.

This coming from a pretty harsh (but I feel realistic) early to midseason critic of Jalen. IOW...I see tons of growth but that doesn't mean he's anywhere near complete!

The actual QB skills that are taught/learned that makes pocket passers much better is where JM has the most room for improvement but arguably he is already showing growth. Put it this way: if he improves in those areas as much in the off-season as he did in the course of this season he has the potential to be 7-8/10 in almost every area.

What effect will Jalen returning have on our QB Room?
My question is who will be #2?
My guess is a couple of guys might go thru the Portal.
Whoever is #2, I hope they get a little playing time, just in
