The rubber match is underway in Baton Rouge, and it's not looking too good for Alabama early.

LSU leads 3-1 in the top of the third. Pharres has struggled to throw it with any degree of accuracy, and it hasn't been very pretty when he has gotten it across the plate.

Getting a bit back now...

Kubal drives in a run with an RBI single, and Alabama cuts the lead to 3-2. Runners on first and second, one out.

Tied.

Avila pops out, but May comes through with a two-out RBI single to tie the game 3-3.

Runners at first and third, two outs.

Matthes strikes out, and that will end the inning. We leave two runners stranded, not good in a game that looks to be high scoring.

I'll never get it: At least put the dang ball in play.

Phares has a good start to the bottom of the third with a strikeout and a fly out. Two gone.

Groundout ends the inning. Three up and three down for Phares, hopefully he is settling down after a rough start.

Going to the top of the fourth, we are tied 3-3 in Baton Rouge.

Bentley strikes out to begin the fourth inning for the Tide.

And now LSU is changing pitchers, a very odd thing to do only three and a third innings in, especially after you get a strikeout. I'm not sure if the LSU pitcher injured himself or what, no clarification just yet.

Wilson grounds out, two gone.

Rhoden is hit by a pitch, but the inning ends on another groundout from Smith.

Going to the bottom of 4, still tied 3-3.

Good news in softball...

The ladies are spanking Tiger butt yet again this afternoon. After three innings in Tuscaloosa, Alabama leads LSU 4-0, and the Bayou Bengals have already pulled out their starting pitcher.

Get out the brooms, ladies.

In baseball, though, we continue to beat ourselves.

We give up a stolen base, and then he advances to third on a wild throw from Avila.

Runner on third, one out.

A pop-up in foul territory will end the inning for the Bayou Bengals, but they got a run across to re-take the lead.

We go to the top of the fifth, LSU leads 4-3.

Kubal hit by a pitch...

Yet another pitching change for LSU... and for the safety of our batters... Thank God.

Man at first, one out.

Big hit for the Tide. Avila makes up for earlier mistakes with an RBI double, and suddenly the Tide is threating.

Runners at first and third, only one out, game tied 4-4.

Come on guys, don't leave them sitting this time around.

#*&&#*!*#&!

Matthes grounds into an inning-ending double play, and we leave even more runners stranded.

That kid needs to find a spot on the bench, ASAP. The last thing you do in that situation is hit a weak ground ball. Hell, just keep the bat on your shoulder and strike out, that's much better than a DP.

I'll never understand how this team cannot even semi-consistently execute even the most basis of baseball fundamentals. Some of this junk is like what you would expect from a Little League team.
