We are at least blessed with a dual threat announcer in Jesse Palmer. We can watch him call football games on Saturday and also watch him help people (now of all ages) "find love" on the bachelor! 😆

Just me but I think the speed of the game has also affected the rhythm and pace of play by play and color analysis.

Back in the days of a dinosaur like me, teams actually huddled. There was time for both the play by play guy and the analyst to gather their thoughts and be more deliberate in their approach. With faster tempos, I think there is more of a rush to “say what you gotta say” because the next play is coming at you quickly..

And I think because of it, guys like Gus Johnson and Tessitore stay in “hyperbolic mode” in terms of describing the action, leading to them making a two yard off tackle dive seem like a 40 yard gain with the player shedding would be tacklers like Derek Henry.

All Gary tried to do was officiate from the press box thus proving he was clueless. The rules so called “rules experts” are wrong more than they’re right also.
I'm not so sure. Could be that they're right and it's the SEC refs who are wrong. (Couldn't decide whether that should be blue font.)

Seriously, Against Vandy, the SEC review office blew a clear targeting call on a hit Williams took. I've said a hundred times I cut the guys on the field a bit of slack due to how fast the game is today. It's about impossible not to miss some.

But the guys in the review room have endless time and camera angles. They can review frame by frame, with several cameras synched up. I'm not normally a conspiracy theorist. But given the frequency with which they continue to make bad calls despite all their advantages, I can't help but wonder about ulterior motives.

Also, did they miss an intentional grounding on Pavia? He was flushed to his right under intense pressure and threw the ball away. But I didn't think the throw made it back to the LOS. Did anybody else notice that? Am I wrong? Or is there another explanation?

I did notice that the Alabama sideline didn't seem to object to the no-call.

Keith Jackson and Frank Broyles were the best tandem back in the day. The last great memory of them was the 92' Championship Game and you can always here "HE'S GOT THE BALL!" call in your head when you think about that game. And plenty of "Woah, Nellie's" over several 3rd Saturdays in October and plenty of Classic Iron Bowls before CBS Got their hands on sole coverage of the SEC. Today's group to be honest are tolerated more than admired. I would almost rather listen to the radio coverage and work on my vehicle in the shop than watch it on TV these days.

Broyles wasn't on that call. It was Keith Jackson and Bob Griese.

On the possible bright side, maybe we can get AI Keith Jackson for the next 50 years.
We joined a group at church, and the leader's name is Al Bell. When I saw his name tag I could hear Keith Jackson saying, "Bell, touchdown Alabama!" It was the call of the 1985 Georgia game when Alabama once again "taught the Bulldogs to behave. There are so many memories of the radio and tv calls of Alabama games that I can remember where I was and who I was with. It is a pleasant experience of old age.

I forgot about the transition of Griese to the Color Commentary in the 90's. Bob was a good side kick too.
Yeah, it was Keith Jackson that says "Teague runs him down" and Griese says almost shocked and dumbfounded " he took the ball away" and Jackson corrects himself and says either "He's got the ball" or "Teague's got the ball". I can listen to it and still cannot tell.

It’s still one of the Greatest Defensive plays I’ve ever seen and The call by Jackson and Griese is Iconic for sure.

I grew up listening to most Bama games on the radio. Teams were only allowed to be on TV three times in two years, not counting bowl games, so radio was the only option most weeks. For TV, Keith Jackson will always be the voice of college football. On radio, I enjoyed listening to John Forney, and even Larry Munson (I live near the GA border, so we could pick up radio stations from GA to listen to their games). Mitch Gray (West GA College / University of West Georgia) was a good one, too, although I don't expect any of you to have heard of him. Mike Parris (Jacksonville State University) was also very good. To this day, I prefer to listen to games on the radio. Don't get me wrong, I watch on TV, but I love games on the radio.
