Not to derail this thread but it ends quite satisfyingly - they regained some of their 1st season form this year, though the past season was pretty good as well.Still have a couple of episodes left.![]()
It's not about actually making people safer. It's about making them feel safer. It's the same concept with Trump's Muslim/Travel Ban: terrorism targeting the U.S. from his list of banned countries sits somewhere between negligible to nonexistent, while the much more significant and proven threat of home-grown terrorism here in the U.S. goes ignored. It's never been about safety. If memory serves have there been terror attacks in the West with people wearing Burkas? At least not recently if memory serves - and no one in this attack was wearing one, so I'm not sure where this is coming from. I mean, Burkas are definitely crimes against fashion but to go so far as to put them on the books...

I agree about the "feeling" of safety - and I'm not even saying that's something we or the authorities shouldn't take into account, as long as it doesn't infringe on other people's rights (like TSA theatre at the airport - that's fine by me.) If it was statistically proven that a majority or at least several of the attacks in the U.K. were carried out by people wearing Burkas then there might be an argument - but as it stands it needlessly punishes that group of people just to give the illusion of safety. I'm typically on the Conservative side of things so can anyone on that side tell me if I'm missing something? It would seem that police and counter-terrorism protocol reform are the most necessary changes needed here. But that's not a visible change to the public, and most people probably feel LESS safe if the presence of police or military increases in public spaces (try going to any 3rd world country where the police carry rifles and always travel in platoons and see if you feel any safer). It's not about actually making people safer. we are about halfway through the new season. it's really good so far.
NURSE Kirsty Boden, slain by terrorists in London, was a free spirit who dreamt of travelling to as many “exotic locations as possibleâ€Â.
The 28-year-old lived life to the fullest  and recently posted on her travel blog that she treasured every day, taking nothing for granted.
She is believed to be the previously unidentified female fatality mentioned by Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
This morning, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop confirmed a second Australian had been killed alongside Ms Boden.
Ms Bishop announced the death in a statement today.
She did not name the second victim, but it is believed to be Brisbane woman Sara Zelenak, for whom Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said he had “real concerns†for yesterday.
