Anyone thinks "bad coaching" got us beat tonight, please step away from the keyboard!

I've read several post tonight bashing coaching and play calling, are you FREAKING kidding me!!!!!!!!!!

How soon we forget!!!!!! Five years ago we would have been greatful to had a shot at OT with LSU, all you arm chair coaches need to step back and take a breath and think before you type!!!!!

Execution or lack of is what beat us, not Coaches!
We had plenty chances to win.... we lost! It hurts! Going to hurt for a while, but bashing CNS and staff is not gona change the outcome of the game! I'm proud of our coaches and players! Win with class! Lose with class!

Step away from the exclamation point.

Lots of things went wrong, including some baffling calls.

Re: Anyone thinks "bad coaching" got us beat tonight, please step away from the keybo

There were several people/situations to blame for tonight's game. CNS put us in the position and we didn't execute. I do believe however, we put the game in the wrong player's hands. AJ should have been handing the ball to TR late in the 4th from under center. That being said it was a very hard fought game and the two best teams played in Tuscaloosa tonight. I agree with you... it hurts. We will win again and it will be great. On Nov. 26th, we will all feel a lot better.

ROLL TIDE TO YOU!!!

We got out coached in recruiting a kicker. IMO we didnt use TR enough. Out of the backfield should have been used more.

I agree with the OP. Now, I'll never say any coach or any player is above some criticism and accountability. This game was not perfect in either aspect, but I can't believe the all-out bash-fest by some on the coaches either. There were numerous plays that if any one of them is executed properly, it would have changed the outcome of the game - and I'm not even counting kicks. Nobody played particularly bad (again, not counting kickers) but just a few mistakes by several of our best players made the difference. It was that kind of game. Even if I question some of the calls/decisions, I just don't feel like we can blame this one all on coaching. I felt that way about AU in the second half last year, but not in this game. GMac was on fire, and we adandoned the passing game in that game until it was too late, and we had to pass. In this game, they kept the playcalling balanced, they put the players in position to make big plays. They just didn't make them.

Foster was considered one of the best in the nation coming out of HS.

The OP is right, lack of execution is what cost us the game, however I have to question continuing to send an obviously limited Maze out there. Surely there were better options than a guy on one leg.

look, we have the best coaching, but just like some of the players, this was not their best game.

I agree with you on this. You think we would have learned that lesson last year with Barron and the AU game. That over 70 yard punt was a dagger. Surely with all the # 1 recruiting years we have had, there are some playmakers on the sideline.

Re: Anyone thinks "bad coaching" got us beat tonight, please step away from the keybo

the OP actually has a great argument here. the coaching did seem a little suspect however one little problem that has been there all season came back to haunt us this game. I've been yelling and screaming to everyone this concern all season but people flame away and ask what i've been smoking. Please stop with the "our offense is great" threads from now on. the problem is our passing game. The inability of the WR's to get open hurt us. And even when they did get open AJ either didnt see it or couldnt get the ball there. It's been masked due to the other teams we've been playing. Flame all ya want but we were bound to see this happen. Myself and others have been saying all season. "What if AJ has to win a game for us" Hopefully our
WR's and QB progress during the offseason because we lose our top 3 WR's

exactly. and it's not an all out bash fest to say so. no doubt it's possible to be over the top with criticism of anyone, but there is also over the top defense too. the players made mistakes, but there were quite a few flat out bad calls/ideas that came from sideline. saban's not perfect, nor is his staff. what's so wrong with calling it out like you see it. i think he and the other coaches can handle it. it's not like bashing a 20 year old kid.

Re: Anyone thinks "bad coaching" got us beat tonight, please step away from the keybo

so by your logic, OP, we shouldn't criticize our elected officials, because golly.....200 years ago we didn't have a chance to vote for our officials. They were forced on us! That makes no sense....

If not the coaches, then who calls the shots on the field? Who makes the decision to keep attempted long, out of range field goals? Who calls offensive plays that seem to make no sense? The fans?

There is no "one answer" to this game, but to say the coaches are off limits because they weren't here 5 years ago is silly.

Re: Anyone thinks "bad coaching" got us beat tonight, please step away from the keybo

We simply got beat by a better team. LSU took advantage of their opportunities. We did not. LSU's players executed during key opportunities. Ours did not. Blaming our coaches or any specific player is flat out stupid. The coaches prepared the players well and gave them opportunities to be successful and they were not. Having said that, I am VERY PROUD of the effort and pride with which our players played. I understand they are not going to be perfect in executing every opportunity they are given. I wish they were perfect, but they are not. They are human. I am very proud of them and our coaches and hope this game will make us a better team in the future.

Bad coaching? No. Bad coaching is what Ole Miss has or Kentucky have. Thankfully for Kentucky they played Ole Miss last night. Poor decisions by the coaches last night? Yes. It happens. Players and coaches have bad games. Last night was CNS's turn. On to next game and wait till next season for another run at the championship.

Those of you who don't think our loss was a direct result of bad coaching are almost as baffling as some of those calls I saw, last night. Our O has too much talent and the salary is far too much for the decisions and calls we were making, last night.

I.e. Dude with sprained ankle fielding a very important kick.
I.e. Four missed field goald at 50+ yards.
I.e. Trent Richardson up the middle for 2-yards. Repeat.
I.e. How many times did we have too many players on the field?

Ultimately, almost everything must inevitably fall to the failings of the coaching staff.

What about that bad throw on teh INT by AJ that led to 3 points late while we were at midfield?

It was a painful loss, as they all are, but our coaches and players put it all on the line last night. No one associated with the University of Alabama should feel anything but pride and the pain of disappointment that a loss brings. We must tip our caps to LSU for making the plays to win when it mattered. I still think we should have won that game by about ten points, but we kept shooting ourselves in the foot. Their special teams outplayed ours, and in a 9-6 ballgame, that was the difference. I wouldn't trade our coaching staff for any in America. Roll Tide!

Our coach says himself, that when the call works out, you look like a genius, and when it doesn't, you look like a fool. I felt the long kicks, especially after the first one, were a waste of time ... but CNS, armed with all the insight about every aspect of the game, decided to go for it over and over. Any one of missed kicks would have won the game, and we don't know if going on 4th down or pooch kicking instead would have made the difference.

Sorry. Players did not decide to kick field goals beyond the kicker's reliable range. (Bama's punter may not have the best leg, but he can pooch a kick & Bama has the best defense in the nation) Players did not select a punt returner with a badly sprained ankle to the point he could not backpeddle and catch the 70 yard punt (an a called punt block, you tell the one returner that he will have no help back there, to catch the dang ball and get down or get out of bounds.) Players did not call cute plays as the offense nears the red zone. Coaches did those things.
Les and his staff coached circles around Coach Saban and his last night.

agree about "dude with sprained ankle"
disagree about FGs, what did L.S.U. get out of them?
agree about TR up the middle but you're 8 games late on this one:wink:
50/50 on substitutions, depends on whose fault it REALLY was cause Hanks was involved with one of them.
