With his size and speed he could play all over the field. To top it off he's smart. Sounds like the kind of player that thrives under CNS.
Ken, you and I may have to hit a couple of games this season. Several of the teachers come into Firehouse. Several of them are big Bama fans and one of my good friends helps with the baseball team and subs at Hillgorve when he is not at the firestation. He is a huge Bama fan and knows all of the kids well. He has told me about Kenyan and all have been good things.:biggrin::biggrin:
I'm a little more excited than I sounded in that post.
It will be the first time in a long time that I've had a chance to see a Bama recruitcommit play a few games in person.
you're joking, right?I dont know if it is just me but this guy looks a bit oversized for what we look for in a RB. He isnt near as electrifying as the big 3 RB on our board but still isnt a bad addition. I do have to wonder though how good he really is if he is ranked outside the top 10 players in the states of Georgia.
Just to point out something about Hillgrove and academics. It is a very good school. It is in an affluent area of West Cobb and Cobb County is known as one of the top public school systems in the country with three high schools in the top 100 high schools in the nation.you're joking, right?
Georgia is projected to have one of the best senior classes in the country in 2012. Different sources have Kenyan Drake ranked anywhere from 6-30, but believe me, he's a great catch, and will be a 4 star athelete when the rankings come out.
the only reason he didnt recieve even more offers is that its still VERY early in schools evaluation periods...and he will be a highly sought after athelete.
The fact that he is also a solid 3.5 GPA (very commendable), well grounded, and seems to be firmly committed is awesome!
anywhere he plays on offense 'or' defense, he's goona be a good one.
Welcome to the crimson family Kenyan!
You nailed it. Coach Saban spent NSD talking to 2012 recruits. He's been evaluating for some time now. Once he offers, other schools start paying attention to a kid.you're joking, right?

I think alot of schools depend on Saban's evaluations. By far CNS is the best evaluator of talent in the SEC, maybe the nation. I don't think he pays any attention to star rankings. On the other hand some recruiting sites star rankings are prolly determined by his evaluations or at least play a part in finding the top talents to evaluate. You nailed it. Drake said he could be utilized as a running back at Alabama, but that he could fit into other positions depending on how he develops.
"They said the really good players can play numerous positions," Drake said. "Hopefully, they see me as a good player, but I want to become a great player."
Drake, now the seventh verbal commitment for Alabama's 2012 class, also had offers from Georgia and Georgia Tech.
6) Kenyan Drake, RB, Hillgrove: With size and speed, the 6-foot-1, 190-pound Drake will be the state's best running back prospect in 2012. He made a name for himself with big night against Camden County in an upset win.
Drake was Hillgrove's leading rusher and receiver last year. He rushed 145 times for 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns, and caught 35 passes for 539 yards and seven touchdowns. His rushing totals would have been higher, but he was hampered slightly by the fact that he played as part of the Hawks' pass-oriented offense.
In order for Drake to have come this far, he had to mature quickly. According to Ironside, that was one of his best traits, especially last season.
"He started, probably, in Week 7 of his freshman year," Ironside said. "He rushed for three touchdowns against Hiram. That's about as long as he has been a starter. This year, he was a whole different kid, He's just a junior even though it seems like he has been here forever. For us, the conversation he and I are having now is that regardless of how hard you work, you will be great here."
I'm not sure I'd rather have Drake over Crowell, but I was actually thinking before you posted this that I like Drake better than Damian Swann, another guy from Georgia who was very highly rated last year. He looks pretty darn impressive to me.I know this is going to sound like sour grapes, but looking at the junior videos of Drake compared to Crowell's junior videos, I would rather have Drake if it was an either or situation. Obviously it is very early but what I mean by that is regardless of how the analysts rankings turn out, I like the overall athleticism and versatility of Drake better. He is much more of a complete football player and appears to have a much better potential especially as a receiver out of the backfield or even on defense if that is ever needed.

You are right Crowell is the better pure or primary RB. I was thinking I liked Drake better as an overall prospect and he is a pretty good RB too. I am going to follow the lead of BOL and list Drake as an ATH in the commit list even though he will likely play RB at Bama.I'm not sure I'd rather have Drake over Crowell, but I was actually thinking before you posted this that I like Drake better than Damian Swann, another guy from Georgia who was very highly rated last year. As for the Crowell comparison, to me, Drake doesn't look as natural as a running back. Crowell looks like a running back, while Drake looks more like an athlete playing running back.
I hear he may end up playing WR.You are right Crowell is the better pure or primary RB. I was thinking I liked Drake better as an overall prospect and he is a pretty good RB too. That oversigning guy is out of control. Maybe he should worry about teams that are actually cheating, like his beloved Ohio State.Someone I follow on twitter recommended to follow Drake. I just looked at his twitter, and apparently the oversigning people sent him a Wikipedia link about Nick Saban, Alabama, and oversigning. His response?
"wikipedia? great source.. #rolltide"
-and-
"wikipedia and arguments #dontgotogether"
haha... I'm liking this kid already!
Is it Andy from Perrysburg? (PFRN)That oversigning guy is out of control. Maybe he should worry about teams that are actually cheating, like his beloved Ohio State.
