Link: ATH/S Malcolm Mitchell committed to UGA

I think Buck Belue is right about Rome but wrong about Mitchell. Of course he could be right on both because it is not over until it is over. I am just going on what I have heard the last week and saying it will be a split between Rome and Mitchell for UGA and Bama.

Ten@10: Stacy Searels’ recruits say they’re going to stick with Georgia | AJC College Sports Recruiting
5. Georgia will get big recruiting news regarding its “Dream Team” concept this afternoon. I’m heading down to Valdosta to cover the separate news conferences of AJC Fab 50 members Malcolm Mitchell and Jay Rome.

Rome, a five-star tight end from Valdosta, will unveil his choice during a televised announcement that is scheduled to air on ESPNU at 5:30 p.m. He’ll actually be revealing his decision between Georgia and Alabama at a television station in Tallahassee, Fla. It will be tape-delayed.

Rome hopes to then make the 80-mile drive back to Valdosta in order to catch the announcement of Mitchell, his friend and teammate. The state’s top-ranked wide receiver, Mitchell will deliver the news around 7 p.m. before family and friends gathered at the Hibachi Grill and Buffet in Valdosta. His decision will be carried live on local radio stations 92.1-FM, 96.1-FM and 1150-AM

I don't know about Belue. I'm hoping he's wrong. There are some tweets from folks I've never heard of (so I'm hoping unreliable) that say both to UGA.

I just have a hard time believing we sent coaches down to Valdosta today only to come up empty handed. I guess it's not unheard of but still.

Buck Belue must have great sources because they told him the UGA coaches were there today for lunch. What about the Bama coaches that went to Valdosta? Doesn't want to mention them? Also, does Mark Richt honestly expect a player to play both ways in the SEC? Who's he kidding?

Even with all this information out here I just can't see how we led for this long and he changed his mind after just visiting UA and Bama coaches visiting him in Valdosta today. I still expect him to pick Bama.

I so hope you're right. I still can't see our coaches going down there for nothing. This UGA battle is tough for us for some reason. You'd think it would be a no-brainer with Richt's future so uncertain. I know we talk too much about AU, but they seem to go into GA and cherry pick who they want. Alabama not so much.

We are just getting back into recruiting GA. The hometown team is a big sell. And AU honestly gets a few good prospects, but for the most part, they are getting people that are lower on UGA/Bama boards.

Auburn cherry picks Georgia? LOL. You gotta be kidding.

No idea where the kid is going, but Buck is usually wrong. Not that he is a Bama hater, quite the contrary. But I'm pretty sure he played at Valdosta, so his contacts there may be better than elsewhere.

Yep, guess that's a little much on my part. I guess I was thinking if they end up getting Ray Drew, Crowell, Gabe Wright, Q. Bray (and it seems like one or two others) then I think they pretty much got exactly who they wanted. Bray is the only one committed now, but Drew and Wright are AU leans based on my reading.

David Pollack, who IMO is one of the biggest tools commentating on college football today, is firmly suggesting that MM goes to UGA. His tweets are starting to really irritate me.
