And more on Rodney Scott, one of the better recruits in this class for AU...

The three-star tailback from Tampa -- who has offers from the likes of Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and South Florida -- is not all but decommitted. Though he only committed to Auburn last month, Scott is now admitting that he will "probably commit there [South Florida] later this summer."

All I can say is look out La Tech, Auburn needs a new tailback commitment.
You're right. Locally, I hear that Rodney was pressured by the barn to commit quickly. He is now regretting his choice. He'll be at USF next year.

I have heard that Curly is open to returning to the football field. Of course the NCAA will have to verify his eligibility since he has been seen playing football in the movies.

If eligible, he just may be the cornerstone of the Barns 2009 recruiting class.

K-Mart was running a blue-light special on AWBURN Sociology degrees, and they had a 20% off sale, if you applied for a scholorship.

From an AU message board concerning their flurry of commitments

Am I the only person who is not happy with the way Auburn's recruiting is going?

The thread has more spin than a centrifuge.

To summarize:

"They don't recruit the state of Alabama that hard."

"CTT has observed these kids up close at camp and saw enough to offer."

"CTT "coaches 'em up" better than anybody in the nation."

"Character over stars!"

BTW if you drank every time "character" was mentioned in that thread, you would go through a lot of alcohol...
My personal favorite......
We are apparently going to lose Rodney Scott to South Florida and then we get committments from 3 players absolutely nobody else wanted. I thought Auburn was headed for a big year in recruiting, but that looks doubtful now. I am definitely not happy with the way Auburn's recruiting is going. All of these projects better work out or Tuberville is going to be out of a job soon
This poor soul was shouted down by the rest of the goober notion. Lots of self-reinforcing going on there. Serious denial!

You guys know the routine, we've been there before...

You go on and on for years about how recruiting rankings don't matter, how your guys have "character," and "heart," and how they will develop into better players...

And then after two or three years and you are getting your butts beat and finishing in the bottom half of the conference, everyone starts .....ing about how bad recruiting has been and how you don't have the talent to compete in the SEC.

Most of us said the same thing in 2001-2003, and then everybody complained about a lack of talent and depth when we failed to finish in the top half of our own division in the next few years, and watched LSU and Auburn reel off 11 straight wins over us. The Aubies will learn the hard way just like we did.

Do y'all think that me being 5'9", 145 pounds would entice Auburn in needing a new long snapper for their new offense?

I'm thinking about emailing CTT to at least get a walk on opportunity.

Mississippi State has a more impressive commitment list than AU does at this point.
As do a bunch of other schools.

At this point, it's a given that Alabama, LSU, Florida, Tennessee, and Georgia will finish ahead of Auburn in the recruiting rankings. Mississippi State, as you mentioned, likely will too.

So, at best, Auburn is going to be fighting it out with Ole Miss, Arkansas, and South Carolina for 7th in the conference. A best-case scenario for them has them finishing in the bottom half of the conference.
