Auburn hate week:

There's how I feel about Tennessee: wish all bad things that could ever happen to the athletic program would occur.

Then there's how I feel about LSWho: good luck to them in every game but when they play Bama, then let them eat crap.

Then, well, my feelings for Auburn........If the War Tigers were playing the evil forces of Satan himself, I'd not be able to pick a side. What about when Auburn plays Tennessee or LSWho? My wish is for catastrophic structural facility failure.

Two of my besties are Auburn grads. Great guys... Neither worries a bit about football. I might get a polite War Eagle if we lose. Actually, one of them is a huge football watcher, he just doesn't get bent out of shape. He watched a ton of Saban Alabama football and was a big admirer of what he termed 'good footballin.'

And then... there are the cultists. One time I was at a soccer game for one of the kids and people were talking about their college experiences. One lady was from Minnesota and went to the U of Minnesota. She had a great time there, made lifelong friends, learned a lot, all the best of the university experience. There was another lady who became progressively agitated and started trying to argue with her that she couldn't have learned anything and had a terrible experience "because she didn't go to Auburn." Then other people chimed in and expressed the belief that many universities were great and offered great experiences.

The Auburn lady moved in a huff at the half and the Minnesota lady asked us "what is up with these crazy Auburn grads? I've had more than one tell me Minnesota was terrible and sucked compared to the high heavenly ways of Auburn. I don't care that they like there school, but why are they so concerned with me having a great time at Minnesota?"

Yep... It was a bit surreal and something I've seen more than once. I can't recall an Alabama alum pulling this kinda crap.

They are triggered by any state institution that has the name of the state in the name of the institution.

Can't stand them one bit. I lived through the drudgery that was 1986-1989, which included the first time game ever down at the cow pasture. We were undefeated, headed into the game but we were NOT national championship material that year. We were due for the other shoe to drop that year and never having played there before, I had a really bad feeling that that was it. And we had Curry who never beat the barn. However, had he stayed around a little longer, he would have eventually. As awful as that 4 game losing streak to them was, it was nothing compared to 2002-2007. We were absolutely hamstrung those years due to probation

That streak ended LONG ago and they haven't had a cumulative six wins in the series since then, but they STILL talk smack, like they have supplanted us. When they beat Oregon in their 2019 season opener, Stan White said on the radio something about there being NO doubt who the more dominant program in the state was. He was actually, with a straight face, referring to THEM. That level of delusion is... unfathomable

Stan White always called a bad play as the refs were making horrible calls against his beloved team. I used to listen purely for the comedy of his homerism.

He was so delusional that even awbern felt he was too over the top and chucked him...

I was in school at Alabama between 1958 and 1964. At that time we actually got along well with our rivals except for Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech was a good team at the time that Bryant had a lot of success against. We were winning a lot in those days so it made it easy to be humble. Now things are totally different between the fan bases. I understand the problem with Tennessee since Fulmer poisoned the well. I have an Auburn graduate niece who says the only team she hates worst than Alabama is Georgia. She is serious about this for one reason or other. When we were on probation twice and short players over a ten year period only two teams whipped us physically and they were Auburn and LSU. Auburn always called the dogs off in the fourth quarter, but LSU pounded us until the last play. Never cared for LSU after that.

Don't want to speak too soon, but it definitely seems Auburn is rat poisoning themselves hard this week. Every day I'm hearing barn fans and sports media pundits talk about how doomed Bama is in JHS.

The reality is that Kentucky had no problem with Auburn in that stadium and I suspect we won't either. The disrespect will be dealt with.

Yeah, but it's true that weird things tend to happen there. Jordan-Hare is the Bermuda Triangle of college football and having to play in that stadium is the pits. I'd rather try to navigate the real Bermuda Triangle with a homemade skiff made out of a used mattress, twine and four bowling balls.

I feel like people chalk things up to voodoo when there's far simpler explanations of some of our games down there. Take some of our recent losses and close calls.

2013: Legitimately good Auburn team wins a game where we play poorly and their offense gives us fits.

2017: Alabama's defense was held together with duct tape, tons of injuries and once again, very good Auburn team.

2019: Tua is injured and Mac throws pick 6s. Even then Auburn wins via ref ball before the half.

2021: This is the real head scratcher but I suspect Alabama was just looking ahead to UGA which won't be the case Saturday. Alabama wins regardless.

2023: Alabama plays poorly but once again wins.

Saban notoriously struggled in JHS but still left Alabama with a 5-4 record there.

Good points all, but I still say that place needs to be hosed down with holy water and perhaps the rite of exorcism performed.

Ok, we're good. I just played the game on my College Retro Bowl. Won 40-3.

Note: Missed a FG because I didn't waste a scholarship on a kicker.

Granted, I also never lose on this game.....but still.

I really wish any other phrase but that was chosen.

That’s what our defensive players said before FSU based on their QB’s pregame smack talk and we absolutely did not deal with it.
