Didn’t Sankey say today the SEC won’t play if the other conferences don’t?
I haven't heard that, but it makes no sense to allow another conference to determine what you do. Make a decision, live with it, but don't take a cop-out and live by somebody else's decision.

If there's not college football, I'm really wondering how it will impact southern culture? While some of you may be unaffected, this could have a huge impact on the culture, in which I'm firmly entrenched.
I think there will be much despair, but ultimately we will get over it. I still think no football is better than canceling within 3-4 weeks in to play like the SEC is heading for.

If we just decide to have bubble sites then there would be no doubt for college football, but I think their inability to take fans out of the equation shows where college football’s priorities really are. $$$

There's a savage tweet out there now from Pat Dooley. Said he got a call from Spurrier. The OBC said they should just let the winners of the ACC and SEC square off for a national title that that's who's going to win the ring anyway.

:)

After being deployed for two football seasons... I can make it without a college football season because I’ve done it twice.
When I was in college I did not watch much football, so I know I can do without and not notice. Of course then I was in school and working so I was very busy.

I know posters are not supposed to mention politics on this forum but I think there's no way around it here. The P5 conferences are divided along political lines like everything else is. The two conferences that cancelled consist of schools mostly in blue states while the conferences that still feel like playing consist of schools in mostly red states. I don't think it's a coincidence.

Let’s pray that you are right

We need SEC football to quell the “social unrest,” especially here in Chicago ;)

The 2016 Electoral College map finds that statement to be, at best, half true. I won't post the map, but you can just go look at one to see.

2016 Electoral College map was a bit of an outlier. I was designating blue states and red states based upon who's currently governing those states. I should have stated that in my earlier post.
I don't think politics had much to do with the decisions, other than in relation to the politics of potential bad outcomes related to student/coach/staff health.

The power brokers in college football are all members of the old green party, not the new one related to environmental issues. Money is a powerful driver and I'm quite sure that in their mind there was an even more powerful driver or else they'd be playing this fall. Whether fear of lawsuits or to their reputation or actual concern for the aforementioned parties, they decided over money concerns to shut it down. (yes, I'm a cynic as well for those doubting that genuine concern for health prompted this decision)
