Can you believe this? As if there isn't enough wrong with the nation as is, congress is deliberating a "college playoff" on taxpayer's dime. Now this in our own state. Smell of barn to you?

I hate politics. People just go nuts over everything these days. Two governors are just trying to have a little humorous fun, and people just can't stop flipping out over little things. 'If the governor can gamble oranges, why can't we gamble on illegal electronic bingo!?' ...ugh.

why can't people bet on bingo?

Hasn't prohibition taught us anything about legislating morality?

I am not a representative of Country Crossing. I will not divulge anything covered by my confidentiality agreement. Everything below is what i have learned in papers, and common knowledge to any jobseeker.

Let me explain. I work at Country Crossing in Dothan, AL (really Cottonwood, but close enough) I was hired as a bartender after I lost my job at a rental purchase store. I was out of work for a month and a half, before getting the opportunity to open Country Crossing as a bartender at one of the service bars. The bingo laws in Houston COunty, COMPLETELY support what we are doing. In fact, the only reason he was able to get white hall shutdown was because their county bingo laws were formed when there was no such thing as electronic bingo. Now, however, he wants to take the State Supreme Court's ruling over an issue in ONE SPECIFIC COUNTY and apply it statewide. Does no one realize this man took millions in campaign contributions from mississippi casinos and indian casinos this last election cycle? And that he never had a problem with White Hall or Victoryland until immediately after his last re-election. Look, cold hard facts, Country Crossing AND Victoryland are now in 100% compliance with laws from a much more stringent county, even though they only HAVE to comply with the laws laid out in their respective counties. The alabama constitution specifically leaves this bit of law to the county level, and Bob Riley is trying to go directly against that. The dothan City commission chairman has already stated in the Dothan Eagle that if Riley tries to shutdown or raid Country Crossing that their will be a HUGE lawsuit. Look, right now they created over 1,100 jobs, they pay a really really good hourly wage, plus tips (as a bartender) and when our insurance kicks in in March, we will have AWESOME Blue Cross/Blue shield. It will be donating MILLIONS to local charity as a Non-Profit, and creating several million in tax revenue. Not to mention the fact they didn't take one red cent from the government to do it.

Yes, it's silly to get all worked up about a friendly food wager. However, placing the "friendly wager" does seem quite hypocritical for a politician who favors strong anti-gambling legislation. My lottery ticket is cheaper than a bushel of Oranges.

This is all part of our grand plan to annex the state of Alabama into Florida. We started many, many years ago with the Florabama and now we're headin north. We now have your elected officials wagering your tax dollars to help put my kids through school. Just wait, we'll be building a Seminole casino right next to your house soon.

But we do appreciate it. Really.
