As some have said, it's now being discussed we may keep him. Supposedly the main issue was not NIL but playing both ways. While the rumors of Mbakwe hitting the portal had been floating on various sites (On3, 24/7, etc) Nick Kelly, the Alabama Beat Writer for AL.com was the first I saw yesterday “confirming” on X that Jaylen was entering the portal. My guess is that someone on staff told him it was about to happen.
My “other guess” is that someone got to Jaylen and convinced him to hit “pause” on the decision.
